It’s just a Zim English-as-first-language accent really. I bet he speaks/spoke a lot more English than Shona growing up so he’s ended up with a more native English accent than a Shona sounding one. He’s very well educated and wealthy and that shows.

I was about to say this. A lot of people are like that actually. Private school kid with a lot of options, cricket honestly isn't a must. His brother is based in the UK too if I remember correctly.

This is why I sometimes laugh when I think about Muyeye applying for asylum. Really scammed the system there. Unless he was on a scholarship or something. He was attending one of the most expensive schools in Zim before he went to the UK. In interviews his father was talking about him studying engineering, suddenly he is a political refugee. I think his father is based in Zim if I'm not mistaken. The system just ignored all this because they know a potentially world class black batsmen in the UK will tick a lot of boxes and be good PR

Also theres Zimbabwe rich, which is like middle class in other countries. The Zimbabwe rich can afford these private schools and big houses. The big houses are relatively cheap in Zim per acre compared to other countries. The houses in some parts of harare are really nice but the roads are not.

Then there's a select few in Zim who are wealthy like any other country.

Milton is a Churchill lad, and definitely not "privileged" in any shape or form. He has an unbelievably talented younger brother, not sure his age, around 7 by now, who is amazing to watch with bat and ball.

The zimbabwe elite are rich by anybody's standards. 😂

Correct the elite or wealthy. what I mean is there people who are Zimbabwe rich or not even zimbabwe rich who go to the private schools

Henry Olonga actually sounded British during interviews.

Finally watched the knock and the Shumba-Madhevere partnership. Top class stuff.

What strikes me with Shumba (even with the first T20I) is his presence of mind and shot selection. The last boundary he hit in the 19th over - he knew that the midoff was in the circle and just did enough to chip it over him although the ball was angled towards his leg, instead of trying to belt it out of the park. Premeditation combined with calculated low-risk-high-reward approach. Not many Zim batsmen have shown this ability and he is just 20!

Let's see how he develops and how he will do against against better bowling attacks.
