I really don't know how we've managed to win this 😂 Great stuff though!

Well done boys.

Great bowling from Shumba. MOM for me.

Phew!

Evans for Chivanga in the next game and we go again? Probably Munyonga for Mavuta as well to strengthen the batting lineup.

But knowing ZC, the same XI would play all 5 matches :x

Yeah, turned it around with that spell.

I can't believe how Zim pulled thatboff either. Brilliant death bowling by Chatara. 🕺🕺🕺🕺

Very good and important win, but i'd like to see a more convincing performance in upcoming games.

As for now, let's enjoy the win!!

Those wickets by Shumba saved us. It wasn't an easy wicket to bat on, we were just poor upfront with the ball. I did have a feeling it would be enough.

Shumba is a gem of a cricketer, he appears to have a good cricketing brain as well, assesses the situation quite well everytime.

Super catch by Don, great bowling by Chatara, Shumba and Jongwe!!
Zim fanatic since 1987

Chatara showed he has learnt a few things. Luke is decent with his variations too on a slow pitch. I guess that's why he is still in the sqaud

Wes is way too technically gifted to just be a slogger trying to desperately hit every ball in the first couple of overs. He's classy and would be better in the middle order. Marumani is the big hitter you need up there.

Why do we need 4 specialist seamers on Zimbabwe's slowest pitch though?

Definitely play an extra batsman. Although Jongwe bowled really well yesterday, doesn't deserve to be dropped after that.

Wes doesn’t have to be a slogger up top, decent batsmen don’t ‘slog’ they just find ways of scoring runs quickly. Wes can do that, some of his shots are quality. His inexperience gives his wicket away, he plays one shot too many. Putting him in the middle order doesn’t work in my opinion because he would still play the same way, but without the gaps of the power play.

We only have one specialist spinner in the squad so we have to play pacers. I agree though that 4 is too many. Now that Shumba is proving himself with the ball I would drop one of either DT, Jongwe or Chivanga.

Jongwe does bowl well in this format so think he should stick around, I think DT is in for his batting more than his bowling, just as a relief bowler.

Evans needs to be given a shot in the 11 now, or Nyauchi. Can’t stand watching Chivanga play.

If Wes is good enough, he won't keep hitting 20s at the top. He'll start going bigger. We have to find someone capable of hitting big knocks up top. Especially against teams just below us.

Wes has hit 70s against Bd and Pak, He`s certainly capable. The dude`s still just 21. We cannot write him off yet. Like Cal said, its his inexperience letting him down at times

Also because he just isn’t an opener…..Why we continue to waste him there I don’t know

I don't know if he is wasted there.

A more mature and together Marumani might be better, but we need some class at the top in T20. Especially against comparable or weaker sides. Right now Wes has the chance to get some good international knocks under his belt. With, Ervine, Raza, Shumba and Burl in the middle I think it is fine to have Wes up top.

If he gets in and stays in he has the chance for a couple of 80+ knocks that will be good for him and the team

If you've got a batter that can play good conventional attacking cricket then you put him up front always and his job is to anchor. Much like Ervine or Madhevere. Not both of them though, ideally put a guy that goes harder with one of them. I'd go Ervine Chakabva as openers

Ervine and Marumani is our ideal opening combo.

Chakabva at three

Wes at 4

Raza 5

Shumba 6, Burl 7

For me that is a very balanced line up , good combinations distributed through the order and playing to everyone’s strengths in this format .

Ervine takes ages to get going, so he needs to open. Paired with Marumani, he can play himself in whilst Marumani is slogging and trying to take advantage of the power play.

Then you’ve Chakabva at three, he’s very adaptable and can play the situation.

Wes and Raza are classy, they can play the middle overs and keep the runs ticking, rotate the strike, and then accelerate.

Shumba and Burl we know can play finishing roles.

Raza has matured so well as a batter I think he's wasted coming down the order. Granted he will probably come in earlier than he should, but I'd have him at 4. We know he can make runs, we're assuming that Madhevere will become more consistent and fulfill his potential at some point in the future.

Raza has really impressed me of late with his thought processes whilst batting.
