Opening post

M Welch in Takashinga 2 squad and Dion myers in Takashinga 1 squad for today's match.

Is Welch the first white man to represent Takashinga since Andy Flower? Interesting!!

Ali Hamid absolutely bossing it yet again

Players like Ali Hamid, Matt Welch should be tried out in some emerging players series which ZC should look to organize frequently against emerging players from other countries like Afghanistan, Netherlands,Ireland. This should be looked upon as an investment in developing the team that give you better results and sponsors, bigger tours in future. If one year later you throw in these youngsters directly in international arena, they will find it difficult.

Then again, my expectations from ZC are a bit too high. 😁

Kevin Kasuza with 71 off 14 balls today 😱

Strike rate of over 500! Wow

I see 2 young Blignaut brothers are trying to raise funds to go on a Zim age group tour, at least that's what's advertised.

Can anyone shed some light why they're having to raise money and why they seem to be the only two?
ZCF Hall of Famer
Probably not an officially sanctioned ZC team/tour
ZCF Hall of Famer
Maybe. I'm hoping its not a case of some having to pay their own way and others not, that's a proper button pusher for me. Epitomises everything that's wrong here.

I wonder if that's Andy Blignaut's boys or they're just related?

I see Ed Byrom is finally in the mix and had a really good innings in a losing cause. Some great shots in that highlight reel.

Ya it looks like those are Andy's boys. He was coaching at PH, but then I heard he'd moved down South? It seems his wife is a teacher at St John's. The standard tribulations of trying to make s**t work here, I guess.

There will be some proper fast bowling genes in there, he's a big man and I think his missus is an athlete as well. Those boys will need to be dialing it up to 180 plus with swing seam and bounce to get a look in 😂

I see they're both batsmen with a couple of hundreds under their belts at a young age. Great stuff.
ZCF Hall of Famer
Either they're fraternal twins or one plays up an age group? Interesting. That would be the same as the Bennett brothers. What are the odds of having two sets of fraternal twins being good at cricket in a small community.

That's 5 runs per delivery!! Bloody amazing.

Only possible scenario from what I can see is 11 sixes, a four, a single then the wicket. Incredible

I wonder how many balls to 50? Probably a world record
ZCF Hall of Famer
Amazing, get Kasuza in the T20 squad. 😁
ZCF Hall of Famer
Kasuza 77 not out off 44 balls.

The Zimbabwe app has the commentary, it took him 10 deliveries:

4,6,6,6,6,4,6,1,6,6

Amazing.

Kasuza so far in the t20s

Innings : 3

Runs : 201

Average : 201

50s :3

4s : 13

6s : 21

Averaging 7 sixes a game :o

Zimbabwe need someone who is a bit of a dasher at the top of the order ans Kasuza in this form can fit that role in ODIs and T20s. Especially against smaller sides (and winning those games these days is more crucial for Zimbabwe) such players can make a huge difference.

I would also keep an eye on K-long who has once again scored some runs and Ali Hamid who is very consistent.

I know this is the same old story of us getting excited at small performances in local games but then this is what we have to choose from, what else? So got to give these guys a bit of a run.

I also agree that the benefits of a long season will not be seen immediately but in the longer run, if Zimbabwe can manage such long domestic seasons it will push them ahead of the associates, at par with say 10th ranked side.
