New Coaching Structure

I hear there may be changes to the selection panel as well

Apparently they've offered Lance Klusener a job and are hoping he comes back, but they are still waiting for him to decide.

These updates were communicated by Dave Houghton as part of his coaching review to the board at a meeting this morning

I was looking back through the posts to try and get up to speed with Klusener's last gig here. The most I found was Raza saying that he was good and that the team hadn't done justice to the advice and coaching he'd brought to the table.

I guess what is also important is how LK gets on with Rajput, whether he has a say in selections and batting line ups. Maybe we need him to butt heads with Rajput because the sooner that guy is gone the better. I shake my head daily that we have a head coach that is never here and has done the square root of f$# all.

I'm also guessing Doug Hondo now has new coaching certificates and will be retained. Surely we need to look at specialist spin coaches, certainly for a couple of weeks at a time.

Interesting that DH has to make that announcement, I'm fairly sure they were told the bad news beforehand, but still not a nice thing to have to do.

I'm sure there are other posts for both of them.

The next U19 coach is on a hiding to nothing, don't envy that guy!!.

Hopefully Klusener accepts. Need to freshen up the national coaches - Matsi and Hondo can concentrate on the franchises or the u19's or something.

Can Rhinos please get a new coach out of this?! I'd even take Utseya 😂 Ncube has been beyond s**t

As far as I know;

Rhinos: Njabulo Ncube (Head) Chris Mpofu (Player-Coach), Chitirumani and Chawaguta (Assistants)

Mountaineers: Houghton (Head), Shingi (Player-Coach), not sure who else

Rocks: Shepherd (Head), Zhuwao (Player-Coach), Stanley Chioza (assistant)

Eagles is Matsikenyeri (Head), Chibhabha (Player-Coach), Chauluka (Assistant)

Tuskers is Mbekeli Mabuza (Head), Nyumbu (Player-Coach), Hondo (Assistant)

I've never heard of Mabuza or Ncube.

ZC confirm Klusener signing:

“Former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener has rejoined the Zimbabwe senior men’s national team as batting coach. He is taking over from Stuart Matsikenyeri, who now moves to the position of assistant coach, while Lalchand Rajput remains in charge as head coach of the national side.”

So Matsi is....promoted? Presumably it means Matsi is basically local head coach for the 300 days of each year when Rajput f**ks off and hides in Mumbai?

Craig Ervine confirmed as permanent captain of Zimbabwe across all formats.

I’m not sure about that. The ZC release says Ervine is all format captain and Regis is all format VC.

Cricinfo reporting that Williams is still test captain though. I find that very hard to believe though and like I say, the original release says Ervine. Let’s see

Brent new woman's coach?

Well he did say in that interview last week that he wanted the national job one day!!!

Great appointment for the women! I know Adam Chifo personally and he’s done a solid job with very limited resources with the women, but Brent is next level. Great stuff
