Hello everybody!

If you are here, you probably found it strange to watch Zimbabwe play Bangladesh and not be able to post your preferred XI on ZCF.

zimcricketforums.com went dark some time in early June 2026. At first, I did not think too much of it. Then the morning of the Test arrived and I realised I could not post my XI, read another Googly rant, or laugh at secretzimbo and Pat_Bee having a go at each other.

I also realised I could not ask Kriterion_BD, sam_ahm, and the other Bangladesh supporters why Nahid Rana and Litton Das were not playing. I was genuinely looking forward to seeing Nahid Rana.

Watching a Zimbabwe match without ZCF felt wrong.

So I decided to try to revive the forum.

Thanks to the power of AI, I have managed to assemble something that resembles the old ZCF. This is the first version, so please do not expect perfection. The old posts still need to be recovered, the interface still needs polishing, and there will almost certainly be bugs.

But the important thing is this: we now have somewhere to talk cricket again.

A FEW THINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF

1. ANONYMITY

Part of what made ZCF special was that people could participate without revealing personal information.

That will remain the case here.

You will not be asked to reveal your real name or any unnecessary personal details. Your email address is required only for account activation, password resets, and basic account security. Publicly, you are your username.

2. LEGACY ZCF USERNAMES

Original ZCF members can claim their old usernames.

To do this, enter your old ZCF username in the “Preferred Username” field when registering.

If that username belongs to a legacy ZCF member, it will be treated as reserved. You will be assigned a temporary username while your claim is reviewed manually.

I was on ZCF from around 2010, so I have a fairly good memory of many users’ posting styles. It should be easy to tell ZIMDOGGY from Mueddie28 apart. In most cases, a few posts should be enough to help verify a claim.

Once approved, your old username will be restored and your account will show a ZCF Original badge.

3. NEW FORUM MEMBERS

If you were never a member of the old ZCF, welcome.

You do not need to have been part of the old forum to join. Whether you watched from the shadows, arrived through Google, support Zimbabwe, support Bangladesh, or simply enjoy cricket discussion with a bit of personality, you are welcome here.

4. THE USER INTERFACE IS STILL UNDERCOOKED

This whole thing was assembled very quickly, so some things may not work perfectly yet.

Features will be added. Bugs will be fixed. The design will improve. For now, the priority was simple: make sure people can register, post, reply, quote, and talk cricket again.

5. RECOVERY OF OLD POSTS

I am working on recovering old ZCF posts from archived snapshots of the forum.

This will take time. Some threads may be recoverable. Some may be missing forever. The recovery process is not perfect, but it is possible to bring back at least part of the old archive.

Recovered threads will be treated as historical material and credited to the original usernames wherever possible.

6. LEGAL STUFF

I do not claim ownership of the old ZCF or its historical material.

This is an independent community revival project created because the old forum disappeared and people still need somewhere to talk Zimbabwe cricket.

If the rightful owner of the original forum, or an original author, raises a legitimate concern about recovered material, I will review it and act responsibly.

7. I AM NOT BEING PAID TO DO THIS

I am doing this because watching a Zimbabwe match without ZCF feels wrong.

If the forum gains momentum and enough people return, I will continue improving it and may eventually move it to a standalone domain.

If it remains small, that is fine too. At least we gave the old place a fighting chance before surrendering ourselves completely to X threads and Facebook perhaps.

HOW TO GET STARTED

1. Click “Register”.
2. Enter your email address, preferred username, password, and location if you want to.
3. Click Save.
4. Check your email for an activation message from cricket@keridan.net.
5. If you do not see it, check your spam folder.
6. Click the activation link.
7. Come back and introduce yourself in this thread.

* You can only log in with your old ZCF username after your claim gets approved. Before approval user your registered email address.

If you requested a reserved legacy username, please be patient while your claim is reviewed manually.

Also note that the first few posts from new members may need to be approved manually. This is just to keep spam away while the forum is still new.

Welcome back!

zimbot here! Long time ZCF member.

Saw a link to this place on one of Zolsky's posts on X and came here in a flash.

What happened to ZCF by the way? I tried logging in before the Bangla Test match, but couldn't access the page.

Thanks for taking the time to put all this together!

Welcome zimbot! You are the first one to sign up for this new version ZCF!

I have no clue what happened to ZCF. I guess maehara stopped paying for the hosting and the site was taken down.

I too looked for ZCF before the test got under way. Not being able to argue about selections and posting my preferred XI was really frustrating. I've been writing software for while now, so, I just decided to rebuild this whole thing. It's a little different, but at least we can do the same old ZCF stuff. I hope other ZCF originals join as well.

Good to have you!

Thanks eugene for pointing me here, I'm joining in for the old times! A Zimbabwe test victory that could not be tracked through the ebbs and flows of the ZCF was painful, although I hadn't been contributing for a while now. Hope my legacy user name would be restored 🙂.

Admin, do we get to learn which ZCF user you used to be? Will you be reclaiming your old name?

Hey Crimson Avenger! Wonderful to have you here.

Watching the Bangladesh test without ZCF was painful indeed. It's the reason why I ended up building this whole thing.

I am tempted to say Googly. Haha!

I won't be reclaiming my old username. Now that my real name is public, I could get into trouble because of the things I said under that username 😂

Hello everyone! Thank you Eugene for redirecting me here and good to see CrimsonAvenger already here. I am following Zimbabwe cricket since 1987 and from that era when John Ward used to run Zim Cricket Online newsletter where i use to post regularly. My username at both places was Dr_Situ [ZimFanatic]. I applied to claim legacy username but some how can not see the option to attach evidence. I am attaching it below for ready reference. I was the one waving proudly Zimbabwe flag during the national anthem ceremony between Zim v SA Super8 T20 WC game in Delhi. I was off the radar of ZCF since last one year because of the degradation of quality of forum and some of the racist comments from a few newbies.

Thanks mate! New beginnings, so to speak. Hopefully with less trolling and more substance in this one compared to the final years of the original. Zim Cricket is always in the heart, so a thriving forum is always good to have as reference.

Yup, welcome aboard, fellow Indian Zimfan 🙂. Good to see some of the old guard here.

Hello all. One of the ZCF original here, however says I can't claim my old account as the name is already in use. Weird. My evidence is that Eddo Brandes holding a beer saluting the crowd after the England ODI win was my avatar pic. Based in Australia and exited to reconnect with all of you.

G'Day fellas,

Jemisi back for the third innings

Not sure of my proof of identity but maybe shoot me a couple of stats quiz questions or pull up my appearances in the ZCF XI middle order.

Thanks Eugene for the link and admin for the effort
