I knew they'd be decent. These qualifiers are going to be stressful 😂

Warm Up games don't necessarily reflect a teams form, india looked hot favts in the warm ups last T20 WC and then got KO in the first round itself.

USA are the only real threat though to Zimbabwe and Netherlands, I do agree on that, and this was already expected.
ZCF Hall of Famer
Jersey are playing today, they have some good players as well.
ZCF Hall of Famer
A Zimbabwe Select XI are playing the Netherlands either tomorrow or Saturday - I believe it will be the players who have missed out on our final squad.

As for us, it's weird that they have gone with Zim Vs Zim internal matches rather than any warm-ups against some of the other teams but okay.
ZCF Hall of Famer
Maybe so as not to cause alarm and despondency if we get beat in the warm ups ? Surely you'd take every opportunity to play the actual opposition and as many different bowlers as possible. Our guys have played each other ad nauseum.
Any news on if these qualifiers will be televised and by whom?

Rumoured Zimbabwe Squad:

Craig Ervine (C), Regis Chakabva (Vc), Sean Williams, Innocent Kaia, Sikandar Raza, Wessly Madhevere, Milton Shumba, Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Wellington Masakadza, Tendai Chatara, Luke Jongwe, Tadiwanashe Marumani

Reserves: Richmond Mutumbami, Donald Tiripano & Tanaka Chivanga

That's the squad that's going around today. Not necessarily reliable. Don't shoot the messenger 😂

I can't wait to see this batting line-up. I'll be scratching my head if Burl is not at least at 5.

Jongwe will definitely play. It will be out of who's been hitting their lengths in the nets between Chatara and Ngarava.

The bowlers will surely be

Mazarabani

Ngarava/Chatara

Jongwe

Masakadza

Williams

Burl

Raza

Madhevere?

Batters -

Ervine (capt)

Then we need two from Chakabva, Kaia, Marumani, Shumba

I have no idea 😂

I see Shumba sitting out, but who's the other?

The reality is that neither Blessing nor Ngarava are that accurate or that quick and don't have great slower balls 😂

Blessing does have some great wicket taking deliveries though, and Ngarava is a leftie, but at some point needs to get that in-swinger to the right hander going.

Their height and bounce will probably cause some batters problems, but you'd think spin will play a bigger role. Just depends on what wickets they prepare.

We should not be posting 140 totals against these sides, we need to be 180 plus.

They both bowl 140+ dont they? That alone is enough to cause problems surely. But yeah you guys are probably right.

BM can bowl up to 143-144...but he's usually low to mid 130s. Don't think Ngarava has ever hit 140 but he can go high 130s.

Ngarava had a quicker effort ball than Muzarabani in both Ireland and Sri Lanka from what I remember
ZCF Hall of Famer
Ya he can really let them go, makes you wonder why he rarely ever gives it 100%.

Raza was not at today's opening ceremony with the rest of the squad....

...Injured? Covid?

Let's hope not.

It's likely just related to the Muslim event happening this weekend

I think our bowling attack is pretty good when ngarava and blessing are firing on all cylinders.

I remember the trundler days of taurai muzarabani payangara and co. At last we have some bowlers with a bit of venom. It should come in handy against the lower associates

Yeah, some bags from the big bowlers should happen. Wellington needs plenty of dots. I'd have Shumba in the mix ahead of Kaia

Thats a very good call actually. I woukd like to see Shumba opening maybe with marumani or madhevere. If it doesn't come off we have the experienced core of ervine williams raza and Chakhabva in middle order

Namibia and Netherlands look good. Those semi-finals won't be as easy.
