Opening post

Zimbabwe heads into 50-over mode for the next couple of months, with The Pro50 starting in the morning.

The first double round (11th & 13th November) sees;

Tuskers Vs Eagles @ Bulawayo Athletic Club

Rhinos Vs Southern Rocks @ Kwekwe Sports Club

These are the first franchise games in any format to take place outside of Harare for a couple of years.

Full fixtures/venues here;

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/pro ... e-fixtures

Double round-robin with a grand final on January 7th.

Defending champions are the mighty Rhinos, who won their first ever silverware in this competition last season.

Revised fixture list. Players have gone into a strict Covid bubble for the next 10 days to complete the tourney.

I must admit, ever since Hamilton went to ZC they've been qlot better generally. The fact they're actually finishing the pro50 deserves praise rather than just binning it off.

Could be any other reason still. All we know is that tomorrows fixtures have mysteriously disappeared from cricinfo and also that Rocks were still in Masvingo/Harare as of quite late this afternoon/evening when usually they would have travelled to Mutare around lunchtime.

Word is that there are a number of positive Covid cases amongst players currently. Not sure which teams or who. Or how many.

That's really bad and makes sense to cancel the fixtures for now.

Young cricketers have got more chance of getting killed by a meteorite than by any form of covid.

😂😂 I think the competition is restarting tomorrow which is good news.

As usual Zimbabwe will suffer a lot more than South Africa due to this travel ban and all.

African nations in general have been very slow on vaccination, that certainly doesn't help.

I've done some stupid s**t in my time, one thing I really regret is having had this vaccination. Hopefully the Sino capsule was full of water and not something vaguely resembling a vaccine. Its an absolute load of horseshit. We are headed towards daily booster shots for the muppets that buy into this, we need to thin the herd. You could tell these guys to run three times round the house barking like a dog and it will strengthen their immunity and they'd do it.

The next world war needs to be fought between mask wearers and non mask wearers. I'd have dealt with my quota before breakfast.

Yeah f***ing with the body’s immunity with an untested vaccine is just…. Risky. But yet the pressure to do this is just unheard of and it’s farrrrrked.

I got the vaccine myself just so I can go back to Australia and not be treated like a leper everytime I go kfc, but to hell I’ll be taking these boosters if I can avoid it.

This omicron is eating the delta and seems to be better so wtf is this fuss?

Crikey  is one of the symptoms of covid being turned into Michael Chinouya?

Good innings from Ben Curran and kaitano.

Would like to see kaitano in one day side soon. I think he will surprise many as he can turn it on in one day games.

Yeah, he looks like a pretty decent player by Zimbo standards. Nice strike rate, scoring a fair amount of runs. Young enough too

Captain Wellington in at 3 according to cricinfo. Interesting

So the Eagles/Goats players warmed up at HSC and a toss took place, but apparently no match happened? That's an odd one. You'd think if it was Covid they would have known test results much earlier than that. I wonder what happened?

According to the press release, in a pre-match Covid test, four players from one (unnamed) team tested positive, so game abandoned.

Nick Welch and the Schadendorf's are currently in Zimbabwe. It's a shame they aren't playing whilst here. Maybe their counties won't let them?

Maybe something to do with bubble cricket and COV19.

Hopefully in January

Thanks. Weird that they found out the results or did the tests so late though. Abandoned literally just a few minutes before play was due to start?

Anyway hope all are well and test negative soon. The final is supposed to be next week so interesting to see if they rearrange, delay, or just hand each team 5 points.

Jonathan Campbell is doing OK in the one day format. Averaging 35 but not yet ready. We need some 'A' tours next year so that we can test people like Campbell, Makoni and Madande. The senior team would be too big of a jump

Just cos i cant see on cricinfo.

Does anyone know how old Campbell is?

He’s 24 later this month

Hope Campbell performs and makes debut for Zim soon. Burl, Campbell, Mavuta.... 3 leggies who can bat is an asset for Zim in this era of wrist spinners.
Veteran
Mavuta, Burl and Jonathan Campbell haven't done enough (so far) to be selected into the next Zim ODI and T20 teams. If they can't rip through domestic batting line-ups and smash 100s against local bowlers, how will they fare against 140km/hr plus international bowlers?. We have T20 and ODI world cup qualifiers coming up, we need match-winners
