Opening post

Confirmed Hilton Cartwright will debut in the 3rd Test for Australia against Pakistan @ the SCG ....

Congratulations to Hilton I know a lot of people here in OZ are saying "Hilton who ?" But the same was said about Steve Waugh and Shane Warne when they debuted. He's been given a chance and it's up to him whether he takes it or not ......

I used to know this. Off the top of my head...

MacGill, Hogg, White, Casson, Hauritz, McGain, Smith... was there a guy called Cullen Bailey too? There was also a Dan Cullen but IIRC he played alongside Warne in the Bangladesh 2006 series.

I feel like I'm missing someone obvious :(

Edit: just remembered Hauritz

Think of a spinner who set a record of sorts on debut

You're missing Jason Krejza there?

Then there's the bloke who is a great drink & a spinner whom we thought had the X factor
ZCF Hall of Famer
Ah damn, forgot about Krejza.

Symonds wasnt a spinner.

2006 BD tour was Warne and McGill...dont remember a Cullen but maybe he was on the bench.

^I think I vaguely recall that now. Man Symonds was so long ago...seems like yesteryear.

Looked good until he got out pushing at one

Cartwright making his ODI debut today as an opener vs India.
Looks really average.Should really look to move to Zimbabwe and play for them as he might be handy
ZCF Hall of Famer
I doubt he's average if the Aussie selectors like him. I'd like to know how long you'd have to do penance for playing for another country before you could play for Zim?

I'm sure there's an ICC regulation governing this and it won't be less than 4 years.

His ODI career won't last long at this rate.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Yeah, he did not look like he belonged there. Was a painful struggle. But may be he is thrown at the deep end at the toughest of the conditions to begin his career.
As I said,He's not cut for Australia might be useful for Zimbabwe tho

1 off 15 opening the batting, and then playing a club cricketers shot to get out. Very average
