Former Zimbabwe test player Keith Dabengwa has been appointed coach of the Danish national team.

As of October 1, 2021, the association has hired Kieth as a replacement for Ruan Louw. Unfortunately, Ruan only managed to be in the country for a few months before, for personal reasons, he wanted to resign and travel home to England. The union obviously had a nice dialogue with Ruan, so both he and we could move on quickly.

Dabengwa is getting video assistance from SA legend and former India coach Gary Kirsten.

Dabengwa played three tests and 37 ODIs for Zimbabwe and it is widely accepted that he never quite reached his full potential.

In one Logan Cup match in 2007 he took his career best innings figures of 7 for 1. They are the best bowling figures of anyone in first class history to have taken seven wickets in an innings.

Good step by Denmark. Keith Dabengwa will have some good coaching experience after having satisfactory cricket career

He's got Freddie Klokker by his side, and they will also have Alfonso Thomas on board for the team's next assignment.

Remember those post-Matsi days when Dabengwa was the whipping boy of the forums :). Kept getting selected as the specialist fielder as he did nothing of notice with the bat or ball. 😂

But with the kind of opportunities Maruma has got, that fades away. He probably pushed his case with his performances for the Tuskers back then.

I do remember poor old Dabengwa copping grief.

I put my hand up. I did my fair share of Dabengwa bashing. But did also suggest that he be at least tried at the top of the order instead of picking him in the XI and batting him at 8 and bowling 2-3 overs. Selection and batting orders those days seemed far more ridiculous than what we witness today to be honest. We have come a long way. Even the recent selection of Maruma in the tests were merely due to no one else being available, rather than on merit.

Anyway back to the topic, congrats to Dabengwa.
