ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

Lady Chevrons begin a 4-match ODI series against Ireland @ HSC tomorrow!

They've been doing pretty well recently after the ICC gave ZC a bit of a beating earlier this year over the lack of funding given to the women's game. Good luck to the ladies and 'Skies' Chifo the coach. I don't know much about any of the current women's players but the coach is one of the good guys of the game - a Midlands stalwart who kept Kadoma and Jameson going during the real dark days.

This is prep for the World Cup Qualifiers that we are hosting next month - that should be good! I think they need at least 4 grounds for that so it'll be interesting to see where they choose. BAC seems to be in a very bad state so might not be an option unless they get their arses into gear soon.

Just realised it’s actually our first ever official WODI. So quite a historic day

Yeah, historic occasion, best wishes to the girls!

Oh! Wow! I didn't know it's Zimbabwe's first ever women's ODI. Historic day indeed.

Best wishes.

Marry-Anne Musonda closing in on a ton in what looks like a successful chase!

Congratulations Mary-Anne Musonda. Century in the country's debut match. Not many get such an opportunity!

We will see 3 years down the line who has excelled, the men or the women. Good for ZC!

Impressive performance for a debut ODI! Well done to Mary-Ann and the whole team!

Congratulations to Zimbabwe women on a wonderful win. Good stuff this.

Very good to see. Ticking all of the ICC's is a very good thing. In fact one day in the future a competitive women's side might be what stops the ICC from demoting us. We need to keep ticking every box we can and growing the game in any way we can afford

We really need to get fans back at sports events.

Look how great this looks, and a historic match too.

Lady Chevrons 2-1 down now. Final game on Monday

That would be ZC's wet dream- only having to administrate women's cricket. 20 people to look after, no prima Donna's, top players pulling less than 1k a month and uber grateful that they're getting anything and a 10 year cushion because it's a new sport here. How ironic that our ladies may actually keep us in the mix.

I was wondering... Tasmeen Granger was one of the most well known names in women's cricket in the previous decade itself as she was coming through. She was a decent batter and a bowler too. Nowadays, I see her getting to bat very low in the order and not even getting into the XI sometimes. Shouldn't she be a lot more regular and also bat much higher up?

Has there ever been a white zimbabwe women's cricketer?
ZCF Hall of Famer
Don’t really know enough about the women’s team to comment much on Granger but she still seems to play the majority of matches. Looks like she had a pretty average Africa T20 Qualifiers last month so maybe that’s why she didn’t play the first two matches of this series?
