Opening post

Test Average: 9.71 with 3 ducks from 7 innings

ODI Average: 11.52 from 18 ininngs, double digits reached only six times.

T20 Average: 11.11 from 13 innings, a high score of 23*.

Over a career spanning 2007-2021 Timycen Maruma has never played a consequential innings from 38 attempts. I think it is time to move on from Maruma, at age 33 he isn't going to get any better. He will never get a friendlier wicket and bowling attack in test cricket than what he just received vs Bangladesh and he failed miserably. Our lack of a middle order was the main difference between the two sides and Maruma must surely pay the price.

Muzarabani bats better not even a sarcastic plod at Timycen either, Blessing deadass has more useful run contributions

Well said.

All mental for him. A vicious circle that's probably now too late to fix.

Interesting to note that according to court papers Timmy was with Roy Kaia on that night the alleged ‘incident’ took place.

Friends that party together get ducks together!

What alleged incident???
Bangladesh cricket fanatic, observer of all others.

Not a surprise, many have found themselves in Playing XI after peforming in useless warm up games and damaging the team in main game.

Cephas Zuhwao was smashing Kenyans before Qualifiers and was brought in the national team and later he turned to be average performer.

It was all over the press last year. Not sure what happened afterwards: https://www.hmetro.co.zw/cricketer-up-for-rape/

The trial of Chevrons player Timysen Hlahla Maruma who is facing

rape charges kicked of yesterday with the accused pleading

innocence.

Maruma, 31, stands accused of raping an acquaintance.

He appeared before regional magistrate Themba Kuwanda.

It is alleged that Maruma and the complainant both reside in Highfield

and on December 26 last year, the complainant was going home from

a funeral.

She was in the company of Maruma and another acquaintance she

only knows as Roy.

No idea what happened at all after the initial hearing. Looks like there was no official response to this by ZC as well, but I could be wrong.

Well that's majorly f***ed up. There's usually a reponse or statement put out by the employer for sportspersons caught up in these incidents, whether falsely alleged or whether he actually is a rapist. Hell I can remember an eSports team putting out a statement when some gamer got accused of sexual assault, ZC shouldve said something.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Looking at how some tweets from his teenage were unearthed for that new English bowler and how ECB had to (over)react, this certainly needed some responsible reaction from ZC. Specially given how they responded to Streak's suspension...
ZCF Hall of Famer
Wait, people here forgot about his rape?
ZCF OriginalLegend
Hahaha, people wanting ZC to act responsibly...haha

I do wonder why ZC wanted to protect Maruma of al people

Such loyalty to uselessness

"uselessness" with respect to cricket, sure, but who knows, might be useful elsewhere for ZC?

To be fair, he was found not guilty. So we shouldn’t hold it against him and we don’t really know what happened. (Up to you to decide how much you trust Harare courts).

I just thought it’s funny that him and Kaia were together lol.

Theres no job on earth where you stick around for over a decade performing this poorly....no job, apart from quasi-authoritarian politics. This points to ZC being a polical junket , jobs for pals. I hope we'll never see him in Zim colours again!!

The problem we have in Zimbabwe is our domestic wages aren't good enough to keep people around in the system without playing for the national team. I hope they can change this since they have cleared their debt.

There is no harm in having guys like Maruma, Zhuwao, Elton, Kaia, Shingi Maskadza and Mpofu playing in the domestic system. The problem is the difference between the domestic and the national contracts is so big that everybody is desperate to get one.

In an ideal world these guys play and the young guys also stick around without too much life pressure forcing them to leave. I would rather we even go extreme and have only 3 domestic teams with stiff competition and only 45 players on decent contracts. Everybody else can play in the NPL
