Right, at this point it is just a formality that Marumani and Myers would play the next ODI we feature in.

It's shocking how Musakanda has not managed to kick on. He is losing out badly in front of this new talented brigade.
matsiwe bright, tashinga museikwa, nyangani, mashinge give chances to these guys

If the big 4 are fully fit where does Myers bat? I would be assuming Marumani and Wesley open. Maybe Raza won't be back yet.

Give these 3 guys time with the big 4 and I can tell you now we will start seeing results by next year. Myers cant go to university. They have to do whatever it takes to keep him

Bowling looks huge concern for Zimbabwe

Flat track. The South African bowlers are better by far and that's the difference

What this also means is, we need to have Mangongo back finding talent at grassroots level, isn't it?

Still at home, a better performance was expected from a 65 odis experienced Zimbabwe premiere fast bowler and latest odi star Jongwe

. Next series is against Bangladesh, if this type of pitch is prepared Bangladesh Spinners will rip apart Zim, if they prepare pitch with assistance to pacers they can win few matches even the series.

Bangladesh spinners are stagnating. Taijul and Miraz haven't bowled well since the pandemic started. On the other hand, the seamers have a lot of promise. Taskin is bowling the right line and length at pace, Ebadat is now an express bowler, Shoriful is genuinely quick (~140 km) and bowls with maturity, and Abu Jayed has taken wickets against teams like India and Pakistan. A seam friendly wicket can easily backfire.

Accept your views, but check when the pacers have taken wickets in logest format i,e the match situation. In recent test series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh pacers have taken wickets when the Sri Lankan batters were tired, when the match was fully in the grip of their batters, same thing happened against Pakistan & India. The Fizz is best in slow & flat then seam friendly tracks.Have seen all all of them struggled in seam friendly conditions of New Zealand. Though Zim & NZ can't be compared but still Zim is ahead then Bangladesh when it comes to playing in seam friendly pitches.

Zim will do huge mistake if they offer tracks like Pakistan series against Bangladesh. It wont backfire but new pacers from Zim who are good at exposing seam friendly conditions can give a neck to neck fight.

Chameera troubled Bangladesh batters with seam movement, it was Musfiqur's technique that saved them recently. Shakib, Liton is out of form.Muzarabani, Nayuchi and if Zim gets services of Jarvis then a good competition is expected in seam assisting pitch.

If it was a flat track, that was a horrid response. Some of the guys really need to be better. What are we gaining by playing the likes of Chamu and Richmond. We are wasting this series on these guys.

Firstly batters don't get tired in Test cricket. Not unless they've scored a double or triple ton. None of the Indian or Pakistani batsmen scored double tons against us in the WTC. In fact, Kohli was dismissed for a duck. That's like saying ZIM only got Babar Azam out because he was tired of batting.

Chameera actually troubled BD with swing, not seam. The ball was primarily moving through the air. Taskin was troubling SL batters with seam movement off the pitch.

A seaming wickets will provide good cricket but it will also bring the BD seamers into the game.

Don't make false claims.!!!

In first test of WTC against Bangladesh, Mayank smashed 243 and Pujara 54, match was already in india's pocket. Later Jadeja & Rahane made the test match one sides. Kohli's duck doesnt matter particularly against lower ranked team as the top 3 generally makes the full game one sided

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/icc ... -scorecard

In second test of WTC, the pink bowl test, Kohli smashed 136 with Pujara & Rahane scoring 50s again turned the game one sided

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/icc ... -scorecard

Against Pak it was Babar Azam then later Shafiq & Sohail made the game for Pakistan

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/ban ... -scorecard

In both these test matches, Bangladesh pacers got wickets when the match was fully one sided

Any kind of movement can trouble best of the batsmans, and subcontinent batsmans never likes to deal with seam & swing. India, Pak and to a certain extent SL bowlers knows the length in bowling seam friendly pitches but Bangladesh pacers haven't got their length or tactics to bowl on that kind of pitches. In recent NZ tour, none of the BD Pacers looked threatening.

Lets look at fall of wicket when the BD seamers took the wickets:

Rohit c Das b Jayed (FoW = 14)...India still trailing Bangladesh

Pujara c Saif b Jayed (FoW = 105)...surely India weren't tired after just batting for 29.5 overs

Kohli lbw Jayed (FoW =119)...119 for 3 isn't a mammoth 2nd innings total

Rahane c Taijul b Jayed (FoW = 309)... this is the first one so far that you can count as a "meaningless wicket" given the match situation

Saha b Ebadat (FoW = 454)...yes I'll give you this one :D

Rohit lbw Ebadat (FoW = 43)...were India tired after 12.5 overs? this was actually a good delivery too massive movement in off the seam as Rohit left it

Pujara c Shadman b Ebadat (FoW = 137)...sensational delivery bowled at 135 clicks with extra bounce jagging in to catch the outside edge of the shoulder of the bat

Yes the remaining wickets were meaningless wickets, true.

But here we have 5 wickets from Abu Jayed and Ebadat that were taken at the top of the order and every time the team total was under 150 at the time the wicket fell.

Further, following your logic, the ZIM seamers won't pose any problems to the BD team because they only took wickets against Pakistan when the match was all over inside 2 days. Babar Azam didn't need to score any runs because they still won by an innings without him, just like Kohli vs Bangladesh. Additionally, if Kohli wasn't interested in scoring runs against Bangladesh or didn't need to score runs, why and how did he get a century in the 2nd Test? Many questions, not many answers.

Contrary to my posts, I actually do think the coming BD-ZIM series will be a very close one and that ZIM has every chance of winning the Test and T20 series, although I think Bangladesh will win the ODIs 2-1 or 3-0. Now if Zimbabwe are missing more than 1 or 2 senior players, I'd wager Bangladesh winning all the series.

Bangladesh pacers taking early wickets against top rank teams doesnt have any impact in result of the game as ultimately the teams scores mamoth and BD batters get succumbed to huge first innings score and the game gets over by innings defeat. At the end their bowling stat appears as 2 for 80 or 5 for150 or even 200.In one or two instance BD pacers may have got early wickets but in majority of the games pacer failed to deliver, NZ, RSA tours are prime examples. Ebadat & Jayed bowls most of their deliveries outside off stump, which batsmans are happy to leave, they doesn't makes batsman to play every bowl which is must for a bowler in test cricket. Taskin has pace but he bowls a boundary bowl every over, has an issue in bowling line & lengths. BD pacers have no answers once the middle order batsman starts defending in test matches, after they pick early wickets, they are happy to get maidens, but taking maidens in test cricket doesn't matters, its all about taking 20 wickets, and once the middle order batters settle in, after early damage they scores loads of runs.Taijul,Mehidy, Shakib, Fizz were prime destroyers for the opponents, at home and also away when pressure fall under them to pick wickets, in present form, Mushfiqur will be the biggest worry for Zimbabwe. Shakib & Mustafizur has least interest in test matches, their test participation might be doubtfull. Liton & Mahmudullah are still unsettled in test and have been inconsistent, hope both will play shorter formats.

Zimbabwe will definately target BD's middle order seeing present form and Zim pacers will only look to be threatening if they get assistance from the pitch, if the pitch is like Pak series it will be one sided affair, BD will win all three series. Close fight least expected unless Zim provide a pitch to help their bowlers and return of their seniors who has got more experience playing in pacer assistance pitches then Bangladesh as many of them has featured in club & county cricket of UK. In last tour, of BD against Zimbabwe, Brian Vitori showed how Zim pacers can expose assistance from pitch and rip apart opponents. They will definately look for fit Jarvis along with Muzarabani & Nayuchi who recently shown their skill with bowl in UAE where some assistance was available. So, Zim here can take past experience before locking horns against Bangladesh
