This is really excellent. ZC continuing to do decent things recently. Some red ball cricket as well in there. Great preparation for the Bangladesh series which follows.

No arguement with one who didn't watched Chatara during 2015-16 before he was injured.

Chatara regularly hit 140 in the WC in Oz, and then he broke his leg and hasn't hit 130 since. In the domestic matches that where streamed I reckon he bowled around 120 kph max.

Again, no he didn't. It's a myth. He bowled in the mid 130's against Pakistan but never clicked 140. I watched the game and remember specifically watching Chatara's speeds

:o :o :o

You, of all the people not remembering someone's bowling speeds correctly? Chatara was regularly 140+ through most part of the 2015 CWC from what I remember.

Yup, that makes it around 142 on average fastest delivery across those matches.

Where I agree with Sloan is that Chatara didn't bowl 140 in the Test match against Pakistan. In the few Tests he played under a speed gun I only remember one or two quicker deliveries touching 140 in the West Indies.

Watching him in 2015 I think we were all a nicely suprised by the speeds recorded, but apart from conditions more suited to fast bowling than the slowish pitches Chatara has toiled on for the best part of his career, he was also looking raring fit at that tournament.

I don't think I had seen Chatara bowl more quickly since his debut as a 19/20 year-old where he really let it fly and bowled 140 kph against India, I think.

So first game tomorrow! Will be interesting to see if Burl plays.

Yes, remember that series, his usage of the left hand was pretty much zero in the delivery stride and it was shocking (it has become better over the years but still strange), but still was puzzling for many Indian commentators as to how he is generating so much pace with such an awkward action.

Any link where it is streamed?

Chatara success was 55% for his typical bowling action and 45% for his pace. Bowling Outswingers to right handers with left arm freezed was a natural talent of him that created problem in detection for the batters.

Looks like Burl has been dropped for that tweet. Seriously i can't waste my time on this, I feel for the players, but ZC is just disgusting.
Shame on corrupted ZC.

Looks like Brad Evans has opted out of this A tour as well as Bangladesh tour, now had he not been selected for this A tour, I'm sure everyone here would have blamed ZC for prompting him to move to UK by not selecting him.

I know ZC have many problems and they've done bad things in the past, but the way every single thing that goes wrong is attributed to them is also not correct.

I hate to say this but players just don't have enough desire to play for Zimbabwe, may be just may be it will change if Zimbabwe qualify for 2023 World Cup but otherwise it doesn't look good.

Are you forgetting that he clocked 144 or 144.5 in the Dhaka Test in 2014? I remember that well because my reaction was :o

Its the fastest delivery I have ever seen from a ZIM pacer in the 7-8 years I've been following the side closely.

No, I didn't remember that; thanks for the reminder. Shows that the 2015 speeds did not come out of nowhere.

Those Bad things done in the past are making them feel insecured as a result they are opting out from playing in Zim colours.Unless some rule is made, Zim will continue to lose talents. Since 2010 Under 19 WC, some excellent prospect has either left the game or representing other nations.

If you then opt out of an A tour in favour of club cricket dont expect specialist treatment next season. That's the thing that always surprises me. The red carpet was rolled out. Literally the last hurdle was just to have a good series against SA and you in the team even though people like Nyauchi might have felt some type of way about it because they had to play maybe 7 seasons to get into the team

And not to forget Chivanga actually made his List A debut right away in this A series itself. But it should be fine if we come across some prodigy who should get to the head of the queue quickly, like Evans and Chivanga, but time will tell if they were good enough to jump the queue.

Nyauchi suffered due to Ntini messing his chances up, should have debuted at least a couple of years earlier though. At least it was Ntini and not ZC top brass, so at least once he moved out Nyauchi was back in contention.

I'm slightly dissapointed Evans hadn't stuck around for the A series. I guess any chance of him representing Zimbabwe has fizzled out

Im a little indifferent but mostly due to ZC track record. Opting out of a national series is one thing and thats the decision the individual must live with. It's always been the case that a player does something, we lambast them, then find out later that something happened behind the scenes with ZC.

I'm not saying Evans should get special treatment, but I guess we only have to look at the treatment of Chamu as an example. That man walks into any side not on form, but on who he knows. So to make the hurdle harder for the other guys isn't exactly fair.

If Evans or a Mashinge or anyone for that matter who is playing club cricket performs well in club cricket and wants to come back to Zim, I would welcome them back. The reality is we don't have the liberty to be selective and shut out players. We especially don't have that liberty when we continue to pick Chamu, Richmond, Maruma, Wellington etc etc
