Edit: It's Heath Streak. Now been made public. https://www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/2104748

________________________________________________________________________________

Thought it was best to keep this to a new thread rather than the T20 thread.

During Tuesday mornings game at Old Hararians rumours were rife about a certain former ZC player being found guilty of some kind of financial crime or corruption by the ICC.

I believe ZC were informed of the ICC ACU's findings late yesterday and will release a statement in due course. The central figure is a former high profile player. For those of us who have heard the name, obviously this could have legal ramifications so we shouldn't disclose the player name here until the ICC/ZC statement which will come very soon.

Here's a few things from Twitter this evening after the press got hold of it;

Shortly, big news involving a Zimbabwe cricket legend will be made public.

The player has found himself at the centre of a financial scandal which resulted in an intense ICC investigation.

Zim Cricket are in panic mode and will release a statement. ICC to do the same.

In the coming days, a big story is breaking on a Zimbabwean sporting legend who has been caught on the wrong side of the law by an international sporting body. This will come as a big shock to many who looked up to this legend & took up the sport this legend played

This is why it’s sad.

Like what Zimdan said.

Heath Streak poured his heart into the black community.

He learnt Ndebele. He took in black people to his family. Invested in them. And instead of any goodwill when he had his darkest day BLM just kicks him while he is down and see it as a win and sticking it to shore people.

I always see this, of all the nice stuff white People worldwide try and do well for blacks, you never see a Thankyou. An appreciation. Just whining continuously and riots, mockery etc. I’m not sure why they bother. Just get taken advantage of. Zimbabwe it’s worse because when someone white does something nice it’s not even a Thankyou, it’s ‘yo what else you got?’.

Not all of course but we all know the type.

meh,

not that big a deal to be honest.

Just sold some info to a bookie.

Not like he tried to make us lose.

Meh...

Imagine if it was a black player who had done this

Sad but true. This is what most foreigners don’t get, when they think old Rhodesians are evil racists incapable of good. Doesn’t take long to see it once you live here. Again, not all, but most, sadly.

Agreed. But then completely opposite too, on the other hand; there is an air of arrogance within our own community where people seem to think that no white guy is ever capable of bad. You see it with people on certain groups desperately trying to claim the Streak case is all a set up or a cover up or something nonsensical. Some of the very worst sharks in this country are white. Just as bit more clever and secretive about it.

I think what we can all agree on is that there are good and bad everywhere. There are good white Zimbos and bad white Zimbos. Good black Zimbos and bad black Zimbos.

He didn't exactly have "a bad day"...he committed at least 5 crimes over a sustained period of time.

One thing people have to realize is that non-white people never get the benefit of having "a bad day". Look at Agarwal...everyone will agree he's a criminal low life. No one is going to claim he's just having a "bad day" 365 days of the year.

Kriterion logic:

Getting your reputation stripped, academy lost and livelihood gone, and respect lost from everyone doesnt qualify as someone having faced their darkest day.

And an anti white rant as a cherry on top.

You can't really compare a career criminal to a man who committed one crime. There is a difference between crimes and charges. What Streak did was one crime on 5 separate occasions. I know you're taking the "bad day" literally, but I don't think thats what Doggy meant. Agarwal was seeking to commit multiple crimes on more than one occasion.

If you read the full details, you can see that Agarwal has corruption in his mind from the start. Streak did not. However, as things developed, Streak got tangled in a web and got drawn in. He should have been better, but he wasn't, with only himself to blame and he is now serving a much bigger punishment than Agarwal.

A lot of people on all sides of life are too quick to pull the race card but fail to accept when they have just done something wrong. The sad reality is that we become desensitised to corruption and bad and blame skin colour for doing it or getting away with it.

All I will say if this was Hami or Utseya you guys would not be as sympathetic but anyway I have always known there are forum favorites just like there are ZC favorites and that is fine.

Sustained, Streak is adored on this forum and people are sticking up for him, which is fine because in the end of the day he is still one of if not the greatest ever Zimbabwean cricketer of all time, you can't take that away from him. No doubt Utseya & Hami would have be torn to pieces on this forum, people can try to hide their agendas but they will always show their hand. Streak is being torn to shreds by the black media types on twitter, the same guys who defend ZC, again agendas are clear to see and it's not a one-way street.

TapsC2 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 12:36 pm

1 thing I will tell you know is that somebody only admits guilt if that’s the best case scenario. Both Shakib and Streak admitted guilt because they had a lot more to hide but I know some people will be too blind to see that.

Denied, subjective and assumptive, you have no way of knowing this.

TapsC2 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 12:36 pm

To believe Streak is innocent but somehow was framed but he had to plead guilty and the real story will come out soon is something straight out of a movie. The only thing that can come from this is Streak exposing other people not him being innocent. He did it

Sustained, it would be too far fetched to think that Streak has been framed here, I feel he may have gone into this relationship with Agarwal with good intentions, but accepting the bitcoin & iphone makes him guilty immediately.

You know your quite far gone when you don’t see Shapiro as a rational, moderate guy on the right. Most liberals do. Ben is obviously extremely intelligent, whether you align with his views or not.

You probably still think CNN is an objective news show after all, so that’s why there’s no point in us arguing about these topics, as we can’t agree on the basics.

Im told that this week a number of cricketers and analysts, both former and current from the local scene will be launching various legal bids against Heath Streak.

Keep your eyes peeled.

We can use Reuters or the BBC or the AP if you like. But I will say that CNN has called Biden out on his shortcomings on a weekly basis. Fox/Newsmax only criticized Trump once or twice in 4 years.

Shapiro may or may not be intelligent...but it has nothing to due with the content he puts out. Anyone with half a brain knows that communism is idiotic...it doesn't make one a genius to make that point. Ben Shapiro looks smart next to Tomi Lahren or Sean Hannity...but when it comes to actual emperical data, most (though not all) of his points fall apart.

It's honestly just becoming a circus now. They have already kicked him whilst he is down, now they want to humiliate him. These guys know no bounds.

Let’s wait and see who they are first and what exactly happened before we say it’s an attack.

I don't see anything wrong if those 4 players (if any happen to be local) bring a case against him. But willy nilly cases are wrong and should get thrown out of court anyway.

I'm happy to eat my words...

but what possible grounds could anyone have to sue Streak based on the information we know and the issue at hand? I don't think anyone has sued someone else because that person engaged in a corrupt activity.
