Opening post

You'll have probably noticed the forums were down for a wee while there.

Webhost forced a PHP upgrade on us, and the current version of the forum software didn't like it. I've rolled back the PHP upgrade for the moment, but it's a required update so I'll have to upgrade the forum software to match. This will be done at some time over the weekend (once I've read the documentation and know what I'm doing..!). There'll be some associated downtime while I do that - but fear not, it won't be permanent.

Working on the update NOW. Currently taking backup (takes about 20mins), will then be deleting existing forum software before uploading the new version. Things will not work while that part is happening!!

Not that you'll notice from the user side. The main things are security updates, and support for the latest version of PHP (version the old software used was outdated & was due to be disabled by our webhost which would've killed the forums without this phpBB update).

Yeah I just checked my profile settings; it says ‘avatar disabled’

The whole functionality is gone. Damn. I liked it because it also made it easier to find who posted what.
