No idea. It’s bizarre if it’s true that he’s taking a sabbatical, I mean this lad is good enough to one day in the not too distant future play for Australia, he’s proper.

Crazy stuff going on. It probably means his pops will also be coming out here to get him started, to check on him etc. In a perfect world it would be an extremely interesting development. Murray Goodwin is probably still good enough to bat 3 for Zim right now. He was an unbelievable player, just check out his Sussex record, he was one of the greats of County cricket, legendary status.

Jayden is an unbelievable talent as well. Much more to this story I’m sure.

ZC probably won’t need him, plenty of talent coming out of Gokwe and Muzarabani. 😂

If there was a full FC schedule of more than 2 games we could get Byrom, Muyeye, Madhevere, Welch, Goodwin, Murray and Evans for the upcoming season. Brent could rename his side the White Power-Rangers or something equally offensive to square up against the Black Rhinos, Black Mambas, Black Aces, or whatever other names guys dream up that reminds them of the pointless struggle we all went through to make 50 people rich, destroy a country and impoverish the rest of us. We could go neutral and call them the Corona’s in order to coronize cricket again.

Brent would have his hands full with this lot, some proper young cricketers there.

Murray was great at county but almost useless at Sheffield Shield. Pretty much a passenger for the two seasons I remember him there, a bit like Ervines time there. 4 failures followed by a big score.

320 matches, 554 innings, 98 fifties, 71 hundreds, high score of 344 and an average of 47 is hardly s**t 😂

Domestic career Edit

After his retirement from international cricket, he became a regular for the Western Warriors in Australia and for Sussex in England. He made 1,183 runs for Western Australia in 2003–04 and highlighted his consistency with 840 the following season. He has also played for the Netherlands as an overseas player.

Goodwin holds the Sussex record for the highest individual innings, with 344* against Somerset in 2009, beating his own record of 335* set in 2003.[2] Goodwin's 2003 innings helped Sussex to win their first-ever Championship title, after 164 years. He is also the only Sussex batsman to have twice made a double century and a century in the same match.[3]

Goodwin led Sussex to the league title in the final match of the 2008 NatWest Pro40 competition. After the collapse of Sussex's top and middle order against Nottinghamshire CCC, his 87 not out from 64 balls steered Sussex to victory. Needing three runs from Charlie Shreck's final delivery to tie the match and ensure victory for Sussex in the league table, Goodwin hit a six over long-on to clinch the game.[4]

Goodwin was released by Sussex County Cricket Club in August 2012, but was soon snapped up by Glamorgan, with whom he signed an initial 1-year contract on 17 October, 2012.[5] In his first season with Glamorgan, Goodwin averaged over 56 with the bat in the County Championship, this triggered a year extension to his contract.[6]

He was an amazing cricketer, unbelievable record.

I’m a big Chapelle fan because he sees the world for what it is. He can get into the mindset of many demographics.

Chappelle's Show from the early 2000s was sensational. A lot of the creative genius behind that was by a guy named Neal Brennan as well.

Recently, I haven't really found much appeal in Chappelle's Netflix specials - although that was actually the reason I signed up for Netflix to begin with. But Chappelle is fairly far removed from the political right or even the center. His stance on Black Lives Matter and systemic racism in particular would put him with most of the other mainstream comics of present times.

In fact Chappelle did a whole 30 minute special about the George Floyd murder. The difference is that Chappelle always has these awesome, esoteric anecdotes and stories that he weaves into whatever current event he's talking about.

To be fair, he's also poked fun at African Americans but he didn't do it out of self-loathing or from a position of white supremacy.

That’s my point really. I think I differ from him politically but I recognise in him that he is not like the other one dimensional comics. He is pro black but he 100% knows the deficiencies and ignorance of the black community. He tries to reason with life on all sides.

Remember the Chappell show would have black artists playing some rap and black comedians but then he would have those skits with what the black community would do if they were given reparations and big money overnight. Which basically involved making the KFC and Fubu (clothes) companies rich and p**s their money on dumb stuff and i just p**sed myself laughing because he knows it’s true and says it. Trevor Noah would act like they would build Mensa universities.

Btw- how quick has Trevor Noah forgotten about the African plight (white or black) now he’s a famous American comedian night that host. Disgusting no matter who you are.

Every community has its deficiencies. There are plenty of comics like that on the left though. Chris Rock is actually my favorite. A genius on politics and the African American culture.

The hyper-partisanship is just a product of modern times. Its the natural evolution of our species. Actually things were always like that. Its not like the Middle Ages, or the Crusades, or the European Wars of Religion, or the Inquisition, or World War 2, or the Cold War were non-partisan or a friendly game of tape tennis cricket. And thats just the stuff that happened in the Western world.

Fareed Zakaria actually made a very astute point about why politics is so polarized these days. Its because most issues concern the immutable aspects of people's identities. One's sexual orientation, one's gender, one's religion, one's skin color. In each of these cases neither side has any ground they can concede or negotiate on. One side would have to give up their orientation or their skin color while the other side would have to give up the ideas of men who lived centuries ago. No possible middle ground.

With Trump on his way out people like Trevor Noah and Stephen Colbert are in big trouble. Both were struggling ratings-wise before Trump as they seemingly had trouble coming up with good material.

Trump will most likely announce his 2024 campaign on Jan 20 or shortly thereafter. And given how popular he is within the party he will EASILY scoop up the nomination. Nikki Haley will have to wait till 2028 to lose the GOP nomination to an old white guy or possibly Ivanka.

If all that doesn't happen, he still has Parler on which to parl into the wee hours of morning.
