I was always p**sed off at how few rights New Zealanders had in the UK compared to other EU nationals. Given the huge price NZ paid in numerous wars fighting for Britain it didn't seem fair that we were sent to the back of the queue behind the Eastern Europeans. Maybe post-Brexit these things will change?

How they treated most soldiers after the war/service was bad, like my grandfather didn't get any pension after 14 years service. The UK was broke after the war. I guess the thing black people and your grandfather got was Zimbabwe/Africa being under nazi or Japanese or Italian rule. That would have been far worse than British rule, so I guess he was fighting for that.
ZANE is a good charity that helps African and other veterans who fought for the crown. Has anyone see the WW2 memorial tower statue at Harare gardens, it had a tree growing out if the top last time I visited 😂
