Well sort it out and get back playing!

Zimbabwe cricket has entered a new and exciting chapter, and you need to be a part of it mate!

The prospect of test cricket must be apetising

Hi there,

I only discovered this forum recently and spent a good part of the weekend catching up with recents topics and post. Must say, this is what I was looking for all this while (while not actually looking, i.e. typing "Zimbabwe cricket" into a search engine instead of lazily visiting cricinfo all the time).

I'm not from Zim nor do I have any connections there, in fact I'm not even from a cricketing nation, but rather from the very diaspora: Germany. But when I started following cricket in the late nineties, the underdog-factor drew me towards Zim immediately. The 1999 WC was the first major cricket event I was able to follow more closely (there is no cricket coverage in our national media obviously), and Henry Olonga's heroics vs. India sealed it for me. I've been following Zim ever since, through the good and bad times, even when there was hardly anything more to gather than a few sparse scorecards from a then depleted Logan Cup.

Now I'm excited as anybody at the return of test cricket, and I'm equally looking forward to join in the discussion on this board.

Cheers,

H.

Hey its A_BD_Fan...been a great follower of ZIm and BD cricket for a long time now.

Favourite BD Players - Tamim, Shafiul...Favourite Zim players - Taylor, Chigumbura.

Hope to know you guys pretty soon.

Cheers!!!
Greetings all. Stumbled across this forum - excellent stuff! Thanks for setting it up.

I'm one of the scatterlings, now living in Cape Town. Played Zim schools cricket many years ago with Graeme Hick, Steve Elworthy and a few others. Played First League cricket for Old Hararians with Dave Houghton Stu Carlilse etc but then found my true level playing for the Greendale Hounds. Legendary social cricket side captained by the legendary "Stones". Since moving to Cape Town I tried a bit of social cricket, but found the locals too serious for my liking!

Good to Zim cricket emerging out of the boys and glad to have found a forum where fellow enthusiasts follow the progress.

Greetings all, happy to see that there's an online community of people interested in discussing Zim cricket - thanks to those of you involved in setting it up!

I'm from Marondera originally, but am currently living in Switzerland. I spent many years of my life dozing in the outfields waiting for a ball to come past - needless to say, I was not an accomplished cricketer, even though I greatly enjoy watching and discussing cricket! On the other hand, I was a world-class corridor cricketer (those of you who were at Founders in Peterhouse, circa 1993-1994 will know what I mean...)

CakePeterhouse, hey? As a former inmate of Marondera High (1985-1986), I'll resist the urge to boo-hiss. :)

Welcome anyway!
Hey, my name is Dilan and im a proud Zimbabwean. I was born in Harare and lived in Zimbabwe for around 11 years. I spent most of my schools years in gweru at Midlands Christian School. I played alot of cricket for my school team there and was one day hoping to represent my country in cricket. However, i moved to Canada where i am now still playing cricket and enjoying it. But to be honest nothing beats the Zim days and i really miss it. Watching Zim back in test cricket was an unforgettable moment and to win their first game back made me feel like i was home again.

My favourite cricketer is Graeme Smith, and probably my favorite Zimbabwean cricketers would be Andy Flower and Henry Olonga.

One day i hope to come back to my mother land and hopefully when that day comes, Zimbabwe will be standing tall with nothing to bring it down, and its cricket prospering.

I am really looking forward to being apart of this forum and it pleases me to be talking with fellow Zim folks.
