That is key goal number one and cricket is just a backdrop to that. Think about all the examples over the years.

Cricket operations happen just enough to not jeapordise that grant. If they could get that grant with only half the standards needed as now, they would float just above that too.

The good things you see out of Zimbabwean cricket is usually from the passion of the people involved on the ground. Fans of the game. Independent of ZC. Cricket is a sport and sport is like music and art. People follow it out of love. Take those people on the ground away and there really is not much happening from ZC at all.

I guess this shades more light on who is in charge of the Money at ZC strange but comforting to know ICC has put in place some stringent arrangements to reduce the amount of money lost to any kind of corruption.Basically ICC is in charge of the kitty.

Well in that case ICC are part of the problem if they see fancy packages for the hierarchy and more than half the players on $300 a month for 6 months only. How would they justify that?

As per this story, Bangladesh are still scheduled for a full tour of Zimbabwe in June (2 Tests, 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is). Hopefully, the Tests don't get cut down to 1 match, or cancelled entirely.

If the AFG Tests switch to away series, then perhaps it makes it easier financially to host BD.

I really hope the two tests go ahead, it’s been way too long since Bangladesh toured Zimbabwe, over 8 years by the time this series comes around which is unbelievable when you consider Zim has toured Bangladesh about 10 times during this time.

You would hosting Bangladesh would be profitable? Aren’t there billions of Bangladeshis all over the world who are cricket mad?

Yeah, how come Bangladesh and Pakistan aren't bog money spinners? Those countries are cricket-mad and have big populations.

Bangladesh and Pakistan would probably be the next most lucrative teams to host after the Big 3. At least you'd guess that.

The thing is broadcast and commercial value is probably based on both market size as well as market wealth. India is on average a very poor country (its per capita GDP is now even lower than Bangladesh's), but it has a huge population and a huge middle class. By that token, Pakistan and Bangladesh should be more financially attractive to host than Australia or England. But they aren't for other reasons. For example, Australia and somewhat less so England provide a country like New Zealand a historic rivalry based on shared origins, culture, history. That doesn't exist in NZ-PAK or NZ-BD or even NZ-IND bilaterals.

There's a New Year party video doing the rounds of a jump up in Mbare, reminds me of the despicable crowd on Durban beach front all chanting Corona Corona because they thought it was a whites only disease. Unbelievably irresponsible behaviour.

Rumour has it that this new strain is having a greater effect on the younger generation than the previous strain.

15 people died in the Xmas queue of people trying to get back into Zim at Beitbridge, now the South Africans have got police and airforce helicopters patrolling the limpopo rounding up the Zimbabweans trying to get the f%$ out of here. Those black South Africans do not like us!!!

I hope it goes through, it is an away tour anyways so should go ahead.

I think Zimbabwe only have home series starting from April, things should be OK by then.

I tested positive for COVID myself back in November. Was down for about 3-4 days. Incidentally, both I and Mominul Haque tested positive within about 48 hours of each other haha. I think we recovered in about the same time and had the same mild symptoms as well.

I wonder which cricketers have had COVID so far. Quite a few Bangladeshi players have tested positive in the past few months...

The SRC of old were the most corrupt evil bunch as well. I know of many sportsmen in largely individual disciplines that paid money to get permission to travel to represent Zim, particularly at the Olympics. My one friend was denied outright a rowing spot despite having qualified and trained daily for 4 years because he didn't offer the right incentive and because he was Caucasian. And then they used to get a freebie to the Olympics.

I don't recall which year exactly, but I think it was '93 or '95 the SRC rep, or whatever it was called then, was at the Special Olympics in the States and walked around begging for money and was eventually caught helping himself, he was a priest no less 😂

Yeah for sure. Just ranting. They're all thieving corrupt muppets who just want to line their pockets, zero interest in sport.

I think playing any sort of cricket during these days is just good Googly. We need to take whatever we can get. Actually I feared that teams outside of top 8 or 9 will be severely hit by lack of cricket for many years, thankfully it hasn't been the case so far.

Looks like the pandemic is on a decline anyways, at least in India it is well under control now, just a few more months and we should be good for normalcy to fully return across most countries.
