Who are next in the WCSL fixtures? And when/who is the next Test series?

From the Independents Kevin Mapasure on twitter

@ZimCricketv

to play Afghanistan (two Tests, 3 T-20s) in either Abu Dhabi or Zim starting end of January, I have been told.

@NewsDayZimbabwe

Two tests in Zimbabwe would be fantastic.

Anywhere would be fantastic, but UAE might be safer bet. Secure bubbles, access to top quality hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Also, even ZIM will be getting back to Test cricket before Bangladesh 😂

They will return into the bio bubble soon after the New Year holiday to commence the T-20 provincial competition with the T-20 tournament, which will be used by the national selectors to pick the squad that will play Afghanistan), set to run between January 4 and 11.

Logan Cup then returns on January 15.

ZC better not cancel any of those Tests and swap for limited overs. Can you guys imagine Zimbabwe playing 8 Tests in a single year? That is f***ing awesome. Zimbabwe has probably never played that many Tests in a single year.

Potentially 16 innings gives a batter a chance at getting 1000 runs in a calender year or a bowler a chance at 50 wickets.

A full and competitive domestic season is a good start for me. There are a lot of young talents around this time. I think we will have a very different squad at the end of it

You have way more faith in this board than I do. I don't know how you do it.

I think it’s much more safe to believe that the main goal of the people running ZC is to get their hands on that annual 9mil/4mil grant from the ICC, so they can siphon it out and embezzle.

That is key goal number one and cricket is just a backdrop to that. Think about all the examples over the years.

Cricket operations happen just enough to not jeapordise that grant. If they could get that grant with only half the standards needed as now, they would float just above that too.

The good things you see out of Zimbabwean cricket is usually from the passion of the people involved on the ground. Fans of the game. Independent of ZC. Cricket is a sport and sport is like music and art. People follow it out of love. Take those people on the ground away and there really is not much happening from ZC at all.

I would be shocked if all those 8 tests actually happened in 2021. Even the star studded team of the Flower-Streak era did not get so many matches in a year that easily.

So, it would be better to tone down the expectations so that we are less disappointed when some cancellations happen.

3 tests I’d be really happy with

Blessing ngarava and tiripano as the oacemen for tests. If they want a wildcard I hear Tanaka Chivanga has some serious gas

I’ve also heard he has some wheels but very little direction.

I forget what year it was, early 2000s I believe, Zimbabwe played 10 tests in one year IIRC

You’d think unless they’re hosting one of the big three, two home tests are the most ZC could afford to host.

Almost no chance Ireland hosts a Test due to money, so that's one down.

2 Tests against Bangladesh might become 1 or 0. Remember they will want to fit in all the postponed series from this year so that will an excuse to cancel many of the Tests.

I suspect we will get 1 home test versus Afghanistan, 2 away (this I’m assuming because Afghanistan seem to have some money behind them) . We will get the 2 tests against Pakistan. Then hopefully Ireland find money for 1. That’s 6. Got a feeling the Bangladesh tests won’t happen

Bangladesh says they are looking to reschedule series, but rescheduling that many games is impossible as the cycle ends in a few weeks time. The Windies series will be our last for this cycle. You have to factor that apart from SL, WI, and possibly PAK no other team cares enough to play against Bangladesh to reschedule games with us.

The 3 Tests will happen vs Afghanistan. They'll be licking their lips to get on the park. Ireland haven't played a Test in ages, so they'll move mountains for it to happen as well, especially if they feel they can notch their first W. The Bangladesh series will likely depend on the COVID situation in ZIM, and with ZC's finances, hosting a bio secure bubble might be out of the question in which case this series will probably be played in Bangladesh. When was the last time BD played a Test in ZIM?

I'd have loved to see how Bangladesh would do in Zimbabwe, so I hope this series takes place as scheduled.

Looks like we don't get a chance to play any of the bigger nations. Sounds like Pak are stuck with us forever because we agreed to tour them back in 2015.

I was really hoping the Aus series would be rescheduled.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
I'd say PAK are a mid-major side, to use lingo from American college sports.

India-AUS-ENG are the majors. SA-NZ-PAK are like mid-majors, with the potential to slip further down based on performance. NZ certianly perform at or above the level of the majors (on pace to make WTC Final).

BD-SL-WI are in like a third tier. Afghans are in this tier in white ball cricket.

Then its ZIM-AFG-IRE.

"As part of stringent conditions, all ZC contracts first go through auditors who scrutinise every agreement before they send it to the ICC for inclusion in the payroll. The contracts for the players run from November this year until April 2021."

"The delay is caused by the process that is involved, the auditors have to review every player contract before they send the payroll to the ICC. All players should have signed and sent back their contracts for the process to start."

I guess this shades more light on who is in charge of the Money at ZC strange but comforting to know ICC has put in place some stringent arrangements to reduce the amount of money lost to any kind of corruption.Basically ICC is in charge of the kitty.

There would still be ways but yes, the opportunities would be much thinner.

I’m guessing they would invent the odd problem like a leaking toilet, and pay kissmore the plumber above and beyond what’s required. ICC would struggle to keep tabs there. Things like that.

As per reports on local websites regarding India's 2021 schedule, India will tour Zimbabwe in July for 3 ODIs which are part of ODI Super league.
