Who are the ten white guys, Taps?

BT, KJ, Williams, Burl, Moor, Ervine?

Diplock plays club, or used to.

Who else?

You’re only partially right about the race issue being overplayed, however. When the lads looked up and saw an interim board of murungus they closed ranks faster than you can blink. There was genuine panic in the land 😂, there might have been people digging up AK’s in their back garden 😂
ZCF OriginalLegend
I think to deny that racism plays a part would be naive. The proof is in things like the Streak sacking, Utseya statement, Mukhulani actions and reasons, and the Zhuwao saga.

Yes, corruption is deep, but you only need to look at social media accounts, particularly zolsky and mdawini to see the use of the racism card being played on a daily basis.
ZCF Hall of Famer
Those guys are pushing a huge agenda, makes me believe something is up. Whatever they’re striving for they’re likely to win, then you’ll see them saying we’re one nation, let bygones be bygones and let’s respect each other.

Encore did you see the university results for final year surgeons? They’re going to have to mark the exams internally and lower the pass rate (again) or these f****rs won’t be licensed to dice turnips. 😂

Can I buy a PhD there? You can here, but it’s 50k usd, if you can get me a Rand deal I’m keen. I haven’t decided what I want to be yet, but either a doctor of sorts or something along the lines of sports admin like you😂
ZCF Hall of Famer
Encore your unbelievably well run SA football’s under 17 side just went down 7-0 to Zambia 😂 Nineteen year olds getting minced by young Zambians with one tenth of the facilities you have surely is embarrassing?

It's better to lose with sons of the soil than win with people of colour

Scotland has now lost to Singapore.

Does that make us look a bit better? lol

No. We're still comparing ourselves to Scotland and Singapore

Oh and the South African brain drain-

And 50% of the skilled people leaving are black folk before you turn it into a racial thing. Your perpetual racist narrative just has no substance. I’m following the racist social media attacks on the white springboks this morning because no one wants to hug Mapimpi 😂 but really all they want to do is stand in numerical order, and you wonder why they want to go and play rugby in Italy, France and Japan? 😂

Soon you, Julius and Eben are going to be the smartest guys left there, that’s if Eben isn’t imprisoned by the efforts of the Human Rights Commission who’ve turned a blind eye to the 4000 farm murders, but have focused their considerable resources on an angry giant that only a moron would antagonize.

Here’s Matt Breetzke, the kid you don’t think is very good. 😂 Don’t worry you’re not alone, he’d be overlooked here as well.

It's good that he's been selected for SA A though, right? Shows he's being thought of.

Van Tonder is a stupid talent, as is Janneman Malan.

And Kirsten loses the ECB job!

Kirsten is overrated!

This man had: Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman, Dhoni, Gamhir, Bhaji, Khan, Vijay, Ishant and to a lesser extent Kumble, plus Yuvraj and Raina at their best. And yet, he somehow still managed to make all that talent the 2nd best side in the subcontintent. Sri Lanka were number 1!

Not even John Buchanan turned that Australia side into New Zealand's whipping boys.

With South Africa Kirsten continued to be Sri Lanka's bunny! Imagine the talent he had: Amla, Kallis, Smith, AB, Duminy , Alviro, Philander, Steyn, Morkel.

How does Buchanan get so much disrespect, yet Kirsten gets respect for all his failures? Pound for pound, those IND and SA sides were not far below those great AUS sides, but Kirsten underwhelmed with both at a time when AUS were arguably in decline.

England dodged a bullett. They have an unsettled Test side and lots of rebuilding to do. Kirsten has zero experience in that. He's cricket's version of a Carlo Ancelotti, a Pep Guardiola. He either inherits or buys success.

You're not a million miles off. I respect Kirsten for what he has achieved in SA, especially helping spread the game to the poorer parts of the country. However i must admit, the sides he coached had some of the best players in the generation of cricket, nation wide.

I'm quite happy that Chris Silverwood has been given the job

Would be great if Oman pull it off!

Ireland need 65 from 43 balls with 2 wickets on hands.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/194 ... es-2019-20

Losing big, bowled out with over 5 overs remaining, is less shameful because you went out with Stirling and O'Brien your two best aggressive batsmen leading from the front. You will win far more than you lose with that mindset.

After Oman embarrassed Ireland, I see that Nepal have bashed the Dutch with bamboo.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/194 ... es-2019-20

As things stand, Italy at number 26 have a greater probability of catching Zimbabwe, than Zimbabwe have of getting to the number one spot.

I keep on trying to argue why Zimbabwe should transform quickly and aggressively, but certain forumites keep on wanting to translate it into an assault on their favourites or me being anti-white or hating on players. It's got nothing to do with that. Fact of the matter is Taylor, Williams, Craig, Raza, Burl, Moor and Jarvis are not suitable for this format, and the only direction for them is going down if they continue to be selected. If non-selection for T20s means most are unattractive options for central contracts then so be it. Bear in mind, you have no opposition to me stating firmly that neither are Regis, Mutumbami, Mutombodzi and Munyonga despite exhibiting chanceless innings with high strike rate. You only have opposition when I mention the former. I have also said Chatara will have to be replaced very fast. But in Mavuta and Wellington, ZIM are on the right track already in bowling, plus the likes of Magarira around, as well as the other youngsters Shumba, Roche and Madhevere in the pipeline.

Focus on the likes of Elton, Zhuwao, Musakanda, Kasuza, Kamunhukamwe etc in batting. Munyonga may yet prove himself, but Chari and Maruma have not had enough chances for judgement to be passed so it's only fitting that they get those chances because they have great track records.

And I used Pakistan and it's players as a reason because as an "isolated" nation(IPL pressuring ENG, SA, AUS, WI etc not to select too many Pakistanis), they knew they had to do something early to ensure their relevance, and they focused on their PSL. This is a brutal format in which they too could have easily been ranked 9th-12th had they not acted fast. ZIM don't have the luxury of their own competition. Only way their players will develop is through playing more. Against these low sides not much Points/Ratings will be lost in the short-term, plus there's the Africa Cup.

Players who are naturally positive and attacking in their batting and bowling approach, or very economical, is the ONLY way Zimbabwe will avoid sinking into oblivion. It's not ZC-SRC battle that will sink ZIM, or the Test they hardly ever play, and the ODI Championship where they have seniors (eg BT & Craig) who can score a lot of runs for the odd win. It is in T20Is where falling outside of the Top 20 may force the issue on ICC.

Save this post, and let's talk in 2 years time. Zimbabwe will regress badly in T20s with Taylor, Williams, Craig, Raza, Burl, Moor and Jarvis. Raza will be 34 in a few weeks - what chance does he have of improving his international T20 record? NONE! Why bother?

1. I told you voting against BCCI was a disaster, Hasnain messed up, you will regret for years to come, many laughed o rgot upset, and guess what ZIM hasn't earned a single dollar from India in years, and no extra income since.

2. I told you ZIM shouldn't pay over the odds for BT and KJ. It was a mistake and you wouldn't qualify for the CWC you argued and it came true. Instead, by not appreciating what you already had, you lost Muzarabani, plus 2yrs of Panyangara who was easily ZIM's best bowler by far, and proved it in all of his last matches in each format.

3. For years I told you SRC have absolutely no leg to stand on to take on ZC, and that the Hoggs and DEBs would be of no value either. You argued otherwise. Now every national side for men and women, plus u19s and officlas like umpires have suffered. You got kicked out of the CWC, denied of money that was meant for you, being given money by Bangladesh to fulfill your commitments just like beggars and domestic season delayed. To cap it all off, led by a loved 33 year old and experienced Sean Williams, were embarrassed by Singapore. He couldn't even register a ton in 4 innings from #3 against such low opposition - the kind a maligned Vusi, Matsi, Dabengwa and Mutizwa would have smashed with ease.

So mark my words, ZIM will achieve absolutely nothing in this format with unsuitable players. Let's talk in 12-24 months. You have more time in ODIs, but T20s are an entirely different ball game!

ADAPT OR DIE!

@encore You come on here making essay like posts arguing about team selection as if it is the forum that picks the team.

The forum has been arguing for you years over terrible selections. You have an issue with selection, take it up with your mates on the selection panel, and the administrators at the top forcing selections.

The one thing we will never agree on, you demand selections at the expense of quality players, not under-performing. The players you also want to bring in have terrible stats, such as Sauramba over Murray.

You are not some messiah. You are also not doing any good by continually accusing the forum of being responsible for Zim performances. You are driven by race, and that leads you to go on rants and create pointless threads to build your ego.

After a weak Proteas T20 XI shared the spoils with India, a very weak Sri Lanka side is beating Pakistan 2-0 at home

GAME 2

GAME 1

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/195 ... an-2019-20

Just look at the Strike Rates!

Pakistan taking Sri Lanka for granted, and trying to use this Series to see if their "less T20 like batsmen" can come good. It never works. Like I said, Shehzad and Babar in the same XI, and worse in the top 3 is a recipe for disaster. Bad start for Misbah and Safraz. They will get their World Cup squad right, but this tour has just strengthened Sri Lanka. Guys who opted against going to Pakistan have competition now. It will only strenghten Sri Lanka.

The World Cup is a year away but already one can tell it will be the most exciting and competitive CWC ever, and Australian pitches will give everyone a chance. Tough to choose a City. Two games for SA in Sydney, one vs England but the other unconfirmed except more than a week later. But "rural" Perth is a better bet and cheaper(?) - SA v IND and AUS v WI a few days later. More sensible and arguably the best 5days compared to most with at least ENG and AFG there too.

I think Regis has some potential in T20 Cricket, from what I saw during his explosive 48. Same with Mutombodzi. Clearly an underrated leg spinner and in some of the games he's played of late, he's illustrated how hard he can thump a ball.

Ryan Murray, Carl Mumba and Mashinge need to be playing regularly, end of.

I agree entirely with the bold part. That's common sense.

However, I disagree completely in that Regis and Mutombodzi(and Mutumbami) do not belong in T20Is. ZIM have other options. ODIs yes they are ok, not good, but in the top 4, not lower at that.

We all speak past each other sometimes, but that's because player and succession management is not something everyone here understands professionally, particularly around team balance. eg, can you replace Jacques Kallis? NO, so effectively you'll need two players. You have a budget, and a number fo contracted players to carry you through the season. Money and resources are involved. Be diligent and deliberate.

In ZIM defined roles have been lacking, hence the problems. Hami and Mire left, so openers have to be replaced, except Mire was batting low when he left. So who/what exactly are we replacing? This is why I say this now has to change. I'm not saying bracket players, but International Cricket is the highest form of the game, so have specific roles and suitable candidates filling them.

In Hami I had lot a lot of experience lost. Taylor has moved up one spot, which sorts out my on eopener issue. Except, he's not a blistering batsman. There is Kamunhukamwe, but a reserved batsmen and a youngster who can be tied do is not ideal, unless I drop Taylor down the order which is also not ideal. So I bring back Zhuwao. Kamunhukamwe will be in the squad and get a few games along the way. Good. Solved! Give it a few Series!

Taylor can keep, but I have spinners and medium pacers to stand up to. So I can't afford to be desperate and and turn to him(except in a T20I emergency. Regis and Mutumbami are there? Tests and ODIs they're ok. But definitely not T20I batting material. There is Murray, except he's in school. Let me use Sauramba - he's aggressive, more mature now has played handy knocks plus has potential. Good! Solved. Give it a few Series.

Elton is there(but not bowling). Which of Jongwe or Mashinge is best/able to replace him? But hang on, they are both seamer-bowling allrounders not solid batters yet. So no they can't replace him. Instead they should now compete with Chatara, Jarvis, Mumba, Mpofu etc. So I'm forced to fork out a lot to bring in Mire. Good. Solved. But now I've turned Mire into an opener, who's not bowling, and I've got both Elton and Mire??? Anyway Mire is back batting low and bowling, but has now left again. Back to square one. Years and money "wasted". Agreed! Why, you're ranked 15th inT20s and 12/13th in ODIs - with neither Jongwe/Mashinge developed, and Masvaure overweight.

Cremer left. He was a good LOI spinner, and you need good spinners in those formats. My seamers are not world class, so that means two spinners - attacking(Rashid) and defensive(Mujeeb) - which also effectively leaves Madziva out in the cold. So I invest in Mavuta and Wellington. Plus Mavuta can hold a bat and is a big hitter. Good. Solved! Give it a few Series.

I need at least two frontline seamers in LOIs. Neither Jarvis nor Chatara have the pace to develop into complete death bowlers, so I can't afford to have both in the XI, especially if they can't bat. So they compete directly, and I turn to Mumba and Ngarava. Good. Solved! Give it a few Series.

I failed to replace Elton/Mire, so I have an excellent T20I batsman but I'm short a bowler. I can't compromise on the quality of my bowling. Do I have any batsman who is competent enough to bowl spin consistently at this level, since I don't have one who bowls seam? I like Mutombodzi and Burl. Can they do it? No! They'll be taken apart, and are not options if one of my main bowlers is struggles and can't bow at the death. But I do have Milton Shumba, Liam Roche and Wesley Madhevere. They bring the same skill set - spinners who can bat, but are more polished as spinners. The former two already have a lot of u19 experience and have played a few FC games doing very well. But all 3 are not ready, so we arrange preferences for them in a lot more FC first team exposure, plus priority A/XI exposure batting top 6 and no lower than 5th change. We still have Chisoro and he remains Zimbabwe's best option as a spinner who can bat a bit - having won games for ZIM already. Those guys will be ready by the time Chisoro leaves in a season or two. Good. Solved!

Now, I still need batsmen. In Zhuwao and Elton(and Sauramba) only I'm still very very light for T20Is hitting. 3 of my batsmen are all over 30, so I can't afford to bring in another one. Kasuza and Musakanda have delivered in Domestic T20s and Africa Cup. Against top quality bowlers Musakanda may battle to hit from ball one if a Zhuwao falls early, so Kasuza goes in ahead of him.

T20Is: Taylor, Zhuwao, Kasuza, Musakanda, Elton, Sauramba(wk), Chisoro, Mavuta, Mumba, Chatara, Wellington (Kamunhukamwe, Mutombodzi, Ngarava, Roche, Jongwe)

In ODIs Zhuwao might not do, I've got a Championship to impress in so no need for that risk. Taylor is the best batsman remaining so again I can't risk him opening. That's means I've got 2 vacancies to open. Burl and Kamunhukamwe are good fits, and I get a decent left-right combo out of them. Craig can continue to deliver for me from 3, and Taylor my security. Sauramba might comeshort in ODIs, so I turn to Regis and Mutumbami. With Taylor in the middle order and as immobile as Kasuza, Musakanda will keep the scoreboard ticking better. I'm not confident in Chatara lasting 5 days, and I don't have an attacking spinner I can trust to balance run-rate and striking so I yield to control.

ODIs: Burl, Kamunhukamwe, Craig, Taylor, Musakanda, Regis(wk), Chisoro, Mavuta, Mumba, Chatara, Wellington (Kasuza, Roche, Jongwe, Ngarava, Mutumbami(wk))

Hami, Vusi and Mawoyo are no longer options to open for me in Tests.

TESTs: Burl, Moor, Craig, Taylor, Kasuza, Musakanda, Chakabva(wk), Jongwe, Jarvis, Mumba, Wellington (Chari, Roy Kaia, Mashinge, Ndlovu, Ngarava, Mutumbami(wk))

NB: I know some will be swift to note the absence of Raza and Williams. You know I always say Williams is a decent player across all formats, but a 33yr old failure under pressure who will never win ZIM meaningful games. While Raza is poor in T20s, he is a decent ODI player. However, he's not worth investing in as an opener in Tests & ODIs ahead of the youngsters, since he hasn't been doing it anyway, and middle order is needed for younger batsmen.

The key here is to pick and choose whom you want(even Williams and Raza), but factor in everything - role, succession, development, specialisation, balance, contracts etc. Eg you can't be picking and giving an unproven 29 year Jakiel a contract when you have a young competent Mashinge. Or saying Regis is a T20 batsman because he smashed UAE/NEP/SIN so he can open the batting and Kamunhukamwe in reserve. What is the point of having all 3 of Chatara, Madziva and Jarvis who bowl medium in an XI simply because Burl, Williams and Raza cover the spin, then you expect to win a cricket match at this level? Be professional in approach. It has always been known that Mutombodzi can bowl great leg spin, since long back in the West Indies tour in 2013. But Mavuta, at that young age has grown so much that he can genuinely develop into a competent balanced allround LOI & Test spinner.

You have no idea bud. None.

QUESTION. Are we getting worse or are the other teams getting better? Maybe we just stagnated.

What if I put it to you, that is one and the same?

There is a certain train that the cricket world is riding, but we've taken the bus. We are set aside from the cricketing worlds evolutions.

I would agree with this. Only thing I would add is that the bus we've taken is a combi that uses cow power to steer it.
ZCF Hall of Famer
Both. There’s some serious divergence here. The levels of cricket are going through the roof and we’re going backwards. That heave of Reggie’s last night will get you dropped permanently from a lot of sides unless you’ve got a few recent hundreds in the bank. Those two young seamers were woeful. I guess they were under pressure and we know how us Zimbos deal with that 😂

They’ve come this far so I suppose they should get another couple of shots, but it doesn’t look too good. Let’s at least see Mashinge and Munyonga have a bat, open with them both, why not? At least let’s pretend it’s a development side.
