Zimbabwe series vs Bangladesh 2026 review (Test + ODI)

A pretty terrific result if you ask anyone. I don't think many people had Zimbabwe winning many matches here on recent form.

The Test was pretty much 10 marks out of 10...not really much room to improve on a innings win. The seamers all cashed in, and this pitch wasn't actually a seamers' paradise. There wasn't any exagerrated lateral movement, it didn't seem lightening quick, and overhead conditions were largely picteresque. The track did offer some bounce, but the Bangladesh seamer's didn't get any. The top order batting was on fire. Big knocks from Innocent plus solid contributions from Bennett, Madhevere, and others gave Zimbabwe a rare 400+ total. And that was enough to only bat once. Fielding was also fairly good. The only possible blemish was the lower order not really scoring much, but when you have a 400 total on the board, you can't really complain unless you concede 500+.

The ODI series was even more impressive, given that it was against Bangladesh's full strength squad. There were however concerns about the top order batting in all 3 games. Bennett can be excused, but the other guys namely Ervine and Raza have to get the bulk of the runs. Evans was a revelation, and many ZCFers will feel vindicated as they've long raved about his all-round skills.

All in all, this series will give a lot of reasons for hope with the 2027 world cup just around the corner in these very conditions.
