Opening post

He's out of contract I believe at Leicester. He's come back to Zimbabwe twice now to play in the domestic competition (and succeeded) and he's back again playing in the T10. He clearly has an affection for his country and I've heard he's a real country bumpkin at heart, like Ervine.

He's also obviously been given some good treatment from the board as he's got a franchise gig every time he's come over.

Aimed at the men in "the know" and those on ground zero, what's the gossip on this stupidly talented bloke?

Shades blown his one chance of the season with a 7 ball 3, cut throat at this level hey.

When’s Dane’s contract until?

Presumably only getting a chance atm because the coaches Son is playing Hundred or something?
ZCF Original
Till 2024 I believe.

Alistair Frost is very close to being selected by Ireland.

Why is Ireland still seem as more appealing than Zimbabwe? Zimbabwe play more games and are guaranteed a spot at the 2027 CWC.

Easy money, make the cheese with a 17 ball 7 then enjoy the dressing room culture once the inevitable rain stops play.

Lifestyle and security. Zim cricket may be on the up, but things can always change in a moment, particulalry around election time.

Not lifestyle. I refuse to believe the lifestyle in Ireland is better than Zim, for someone from a relatively well-off family? The UK is a dump as it is and then I imagine Ireland is basically the same but even duller and colder and quieter?

Security maybe in terms of cricket. I wonder how much Irish central contracts are worth though? I can't imagine they are much higher than what our national players are currently getting this year.

Saw an interview with Frost saying his ambition is to play for Ireland. They've got some T20's with India this month and after recent performances he is in with a shout. Good luck to him.

Hopefully with ZC moving in the right direction the next generation of guys will be more trusting and we will start losing fewer over time.

Nick couldn't make the 50 over side yesterday. If he can't make that then he must be on borrowed time with Leicestershire.

Ben Curran is averging 19 in minor county cricket with one half century in 8 innings.

I'm fairly sure he's wrapping up there, he wants to come back to Zim.

No appearance for Leicestershire again. Get him signed up and move Ervine onto the coaching staff, we all know they can only have four murungus and Raza in the side. Cut throat business this.

Reading on Twitter that Nick Welch is all set to consider a future with Zimbabwe National team and is leaving county cricket. Is it true folks?

Yes as per the NPL thread earlier today.

His contract was up at the end of this English season and his plan for a while has been to come back. Looks like Leicestershire have let him leave a couple of weeks early.

He’s back
