Opening post

To me he will fit in perfectly into our middle order 4-5, add valuable experience and especially for the youngsters in the team. He can bowl a quick and heavy ball and in partnerships with say Price or Utseya. Very valuable cricketer in my opinion.

I know its old news but seeing we on the topic, What i find strange is not a lot of people given the oppotunity would turn down playing for their country let alone a 'World Cup' . So from the outside there just seemed to be other issues involved when the decision came about, take the topic brought up by charles coventry for instance, if these things are happening how can we expect the likes of Ervine, Cameron etc to come back when they are getting treated way better in county cricket and county cricket being now the strongest domestic cricket competition in the world? i have no doubt if promises were kept we would see these guys playing in our colours. I dont believe for a sec that his excuse to pull out was because he was getting married etc, if you check his facebook he's single so he must have been covering something up that happened between him and whoever he was talking to, im guessing (Campbell or Bvute) judging by the statements AC was dishing out.

Maehara can you lock this thread plz, or do I have say something particularly nasty and below the belt about his wife to get it locked

Why should we lock this thread? Isn't it better to have one large thread about Sean Ervine instead of someone starting a new thread every time he scores a run in county cricket or takes a wicket? If you don't like this thread don't read it.

While the thread is flogging a dead horse beyond any recognition (Sean's not coming back, folks), it's not breaking any rules. If people want to talk about Sean, best to keep it confined in one easy-to-ignore thread, yes?

I think it is time to start a similar Anthony Ireland thread.

Threads like this tend to die naturally.

That is of course if there's no interest but this is the most read thread on zcf for some time now.

Sean ervine is like the Anthony mundine or lady gaga of this forum, because like him or hate him- he draws interest from every zim fan when he's mentioned. He is instant viewer ratings!

Also that's a tip for any forumer,

If you start a thread and want alot of hits, name drop Sean ervine in the title.

Sean Ervine draws even more conversation than Matsi and Dabengwa combined. The comparisons with Lady Gaga or Anthony Mundine really aren't far off the mark.

Sean is both loved here and resented/hated.

Our golden boy that became the villain.

Like the rich uncle that bought you things as a kid, then molested you later.

He seems different to the other exports, you always get the feeling with him that it hurts him he's nit there with us, but he's torn by other factors in his life.

I think Sean's reasons for not returning to Zimbabwe are valid given the recent comments by Taibu. Why would anyone come back to no contract and no money?

I actually saw this on the telly, he was unlucky to get run out.

Obviously he would make the Zimbabwean team on his batting alone but if his bowling comes back a bit more he would nicely fill Chigs spot in the team.

His form will only return once he is wearing the Zimbabwe shirt.

What I have cone to realize is that if ZC just had their priorities in order and just paid their players right we would have Sean, the other Sean, arnoldus, and perhaps Murray, gary Bd james all in the team to choose from.

Players talk.

I've realized I can't hold gate towards Sean for not being with us. It sounds as if he was willing to take a small paycut to return home but not if there's no guarantee of being paid at all.

Jemisi wrote:Do you think the other Sean is just about pay? All sorts of Williams rumours are floating around. If the upswing continues, we will still be needing Ballance and other quality to be a part of the structure, otherwise it is hard to see us ever getting above 9th or 8th at the outside.

Is the other Sean about pay ? Probably not.

If he came back he would be no more than a squad player.

Sean Williams would walk straight back into the starting xi - or at least he should. He would help shore up our middle order or perhaps bat at 3.

The guys so delicate though

He needs to toughen up, it's the new Zimbabwe regieme

Part of meis still looking pessimistically at some aspects of our game and setup, but the players keep doing smart things, they keep playing percentage cricket and they seem to have their heads in the right place. Whilst Williams s certainly in ur best 6 batsmen in both forms of the game, I worry about his mindset upsetting the balance of the dressin rooms. Speaking of Ballance, that guy seems to have himself sorted out. A nice 81* last night.

agreed jemisi brilliant point. also ballance we NEEED for the future he is sucha rare talent !

Ballance would certainly be an improvement over Mawoyo.
