ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

Why don't they play one more game and wear black armbands?

The death of Zimbabwe Cricket!!

No-one is being paid so nothing to lose if they down tools properly and demand a complete makeover. Problem is the players themselves don't know what's required to make it work. First things first- find a guy to run it that has credibility and will be guaranteed a vote of confidence from ICC. The right guy will do it for free and not draw a salary. That's a fact!! Secondly they must insist that there can only be a maximum of 6 administrators for the entire country, and they can only earn $3k a month ea. Pull that off and there's a tiny glimmer of light at the end of a very long dark tunnel. Nothing short of this has a snowball's chance in hell.

One thing I think about the administrators is that they always have to be operating with salaries that are at "market" rates but the players are always expected to do it for love. I think you have it right googly. Let's find someone to do the admin for love and car expenses and then pay the players. See how that works for a while.

I spoke to the Boland coach last year and was discussing our problems. He asked me how many people we had administrating (Iguess he thought we were short!)

I had been told back then that we had around 200 and I told him so. He was incredulous. He told me that Boland Province had over 60 very active clubs and 1200 schools (of which 700 were big into cricket) and that 6 administrators did the job effectively. We are the joke of the cricketing world.
