Opening post

Let's get talking about some cricket shall we ......

Looks like the selectors are hell bent on using a keeper to open the batting with Mutumbami, Regis and PJ Moor all opening the batting in the warm up matches, I understand the thinking that these guys are more suited to building an innings at the top more so than scoring quickly at the end but the top 6 seems to be settled so I'm not real keen on changing it but I guess they know more than me :D

I'm thinking they'll go with a batting line up like this

Chamu

Regis

Ervine

Hami

Chigs

Williams

Raza

With Willy and Sik so low it does give us more depth so I can see the thinking .....

I also see Chigs is bowling in the nets maybe he will roll the arm over again, maybe he will drop down the order ??

Will be interesting to see if they play 3 seamers or 2 spinners ??

I doubt we will produce 'juicy' pitches considering Pakistan's seam attack ......

Also we are on 45 points 4 behind Ireland and 4 above Afghanistan so these next 3 series are very very important, we could get as high as 9th ( I think ?) or as low as 12th ......
The best scenario is us in at 10th I think using the rankings predictor. It would good they updated more frequently with upcoming matches, they have only just put in our matches vs Ireland & Pakistan (still no afghanistan :( ), yet they have had the England vs Sri Lanka series for next year up for months...
Attached is what I have the rankings looking like if lose 1-2 against pakistan but win 2-1 against Ireland, (Afghanistan matches unavailable as explained in previous post), along with the current standings as well.

What happens if the Windies get thumped in SL and we win all matches ( big if I know just curious don't bother telling me I'm crazy ) ......
This was the very best I could come up with for us; 3-0 Zim vs Pak, 3-0 Zim vs Ireland 3-0 Sri Lanks vs West Indies, 4-0 England vs Pakistan & 4-0 NZ vs Pakistan (winners listed first)
When is the series starting?

I'm not a big fan of their system but they are necessary for the 2019 world cup. A full description is available here, but the gist of it is this:

Note that the effect would be greater if a team has played fewer matches.

If a team is shown in the table as having played between 30-40 matches then the following would apply:

a) If playing a similarly rated team, a win would typically increase the rating by 1-2 points, while

losing would cost 1-2 rating points.

b) If playing a side rated say 20-30 points higher, a win would increase the rating by around 2

points, but a defeat should only cost 1 rating point.

c) If playing a side rated say 20-30 points lower, then the opposite of b) applies - a win might be

worth only 1 point, but a defeat might cost 2 points.

Finally, it might need two or three wins against a team rated 40 or more points lower to increase the

rating by one point, but just one defeat might cost 3 points

I know. It's just that almost every one of them you bump into is called Mohammad, so I prefer his old name. :D
