Although we've mentioned a few names to look out for, it seems one guy who has come in and has done well with both bat and ball in all these matches has been Campbell Light. May be worth keeping an eye on him as an allrounder prospect.

ShareWe're getting thumped by Pakistan. The only shining light is Masasire who's showing how consistent an opener he is.
An improved performance from Kasuza, but not good enough, he really should be dominating.
The other interesting thing to note is how many openers have partnered Masasire. Jongwe, Kasuza and now Handirisi have been tried out without much success. Seems the opening slot is a problem both for the senior team and the U19s

finding one is an important step. He's done well in that spot! a second one would be good, Kasuza has shown that any calls for his inclusion in NZ were extrememly premature...but it's good he's finally doing something!

Any info on Masasire, anyone? His was not a name going around before the tour, so well done to him, 204 runs @ 34. Kyle Bowie takes the bowling honours with 9 wickets in the series @ 24.
The batting really never clicked in this series and, looking forward towards the WC, it looks as difficult as ever to get out of the group. But if Masasire provides a platform, Kasuza, Bruce and Burl fire at the same time there's always an outside chance to surprise India and WI. But tbh I think our youngsters will have their hands full to hold down an improving PNG side, and not embarrass themselves in the plate.

As is the norm these days at U19 competitions. Remeber that the team 2 years ago lost to almost everyone, including Ireland. That team included several who have made something of a name for themselves as well: Chatara, Muzhange, Mugava, Price, Moor, Mushangwe, Mutombodzi, Waller, Higgins. The 2012 world cup side will have a lot less experience at senior level, which is perhaps a worrying sign considering how poor the more experienced 2010 side was. However, it could be argued that the lack of first class opportunities for the present side is not inappropriate given their age, and points to a franchise system with improving depth...

Yeah, there is more strength in the FC setup and less need to throw 17 and 18 year olds in every other match.
