Sure, these results are disgraceful...but as I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, it seems that these tours are being organised with very little notice, as semi-random events. This has two consequences:

1) It interrupts our already short domestic season. It removes decent(-ish) players from the pool and means that the remaining domestic regulars play against weeker opposition at home, as other players are called in to make up the numbers. This is not going to challenge anybody and and people get a false sense of their worth.

2) Preparations for the tour are almost zero. The coach cannot do any coaching. The players do not get to prepare, bond and gel as a team. If a miracle happens, a few players rise to the top, but most will just be trying to avoid sinking completely.

So you admit that the Pakistani is useless!

Wasteful and incompetent!

The scorecards of the first two matches. If you have the courage:

Match 1: http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1849 ... e-2017-18/

Match 2: http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1849 ... e-2017-18/

Only Mavuta can probably hold his head high so far.

This has to be the most devastating set of losses in recent times. UAE is not even a proper cricket team for goodness' sake. Chibhabha, with well over 100 international caps, and what does that translate to?

Mavuta is a confidence player and one who is hungry to play cricket. He is probably sadly the only one who actually has played more than 6 club games this 2017/18 season. At the start of the season he was wretched when he got back from the UK but he got some help from his club coach Blessing Mafuva who not only threw balls at him helped him tweak his action , get his shoulder not to drop and got him to bowl 10 overs in the club games he played. He is the type of player who is hungry to improve his game and will be on the first bus out of a logan cup game to play a club game in harare First or Second league. Its the attitude that needs to be fixed. Chamu has played little to no cricket apart from the one logan cup game and these tour games which just shows that he is way too comfortable and not realising this is the time to start to score big or get some form through confidence in lower level games.

Thanks for sharing that gargamel. While it is good to see those levels of commitment from Mavuta, it is disappointing to see others not following suit. Pretty much everyone on the ground had similar things to say about Mashinge. Hope he continues on those lines and does not deviate on to the path taken by Jongwe.

Ian Dixon is a Zimbo living in the UK who is a professional umpire, but I’m not sure at what level. I don’t think F.C.

He seems to run the annual Tiger Fishing Tournament here.
