Opening post

Nah, f**k the domestic system, get them to Bangladesh

This team will win the Plate, I’m prepared to bet on that. Very impressed with them.

They should open with Schardendorf. Give him a chance to get going. Let Marumani keep so Shardendorf is fresh and let him start.

The pressure is off now, great pity, but it is.

Here’s my new line up-

Schardendorf, Madhevere, Myers, Shumba, Bawa, Marumani, Tugwete, Oldknow, Ndlela.

Zim U19 got a tough draw, they are a very good team and yeah they can win the plate. Very impressed by many of these players.

Had they been in India's draw or Afghanistan's draw, I'd have fancied ZU19 qualifying as the 2nd team.

There has to be a better format. How do you play just two games and you’re out? We finally get a competitive team and blow it inside a week.

They’ve will have to pick themselves up for Scotland or they’ll lose that as well.

If you go on to lose to Scotland, how do you blame the format? That would be like Bangladesh finishing 8th at the last senior World Cup saying they were a lock for the semis - which interestingly they were in contention for after 7 of the 9 group games.

The Plate tournament will be loaded with established sides this year. One of Australia/England will be in the plates, plus Sri Lanka, and then Zimbabwe. Winning the Plate competition will be tough ie a pretty decent achievement.

I guess with the emergence of Afghanistan in the youth circuit means one more established side will always be added to the plate tourney.

Yes very disappointing for a side that promised so much,, I guess Kriterion was right in saying Zimbabwe wouldn't progress through. In the end of the day the lack of any decent fast bowling options and the imbecile decision to bat Dane at 9 killed their chances.

There's no defending Utseya's call to do that, it was poor and if you ask me I believe there was more to this move than team tactics, Dane has been marginalised this whole campaign batting way too low even when coming in at 6 or 7. If he isn't a big hitter why is he batting so low? He should have been in at 3 or 4 to use him in the best way possible.

I have a feeling Utseya knows Dane isn't going to hang around after the WC so there's no point in trying to help him progress here, his brother was also left out of the crucial India match at the last WC. I also believe this was a reason why Matthew Welch was left out of the squad, he was one of the better performed players in the trial games before the squad was picked.

Usually I'd be against it but for Wes and Shumba they're a special case and I believe they should be in the ODI squad to go Bangladesh. Most young guys need time to find themselves and their game in club and domestic cricket, but I feel these two much like BT did, can find their feet and adapt in the international game.

Wes loves the ball coming on so I'd have him opening, whilst Shumba can play down the order as a middle to lower order batter and bowl some spin.
