I have a bad feeling there are a lot of bag room issues arising and this is playing on the team's mind, with AC and Manase gone there is a good chance Whatmore is already thinking of bailing and the rumours of Williams are probably true as well he's clearly not playing with a free mind atm. I'm still confident we can win but we really need to bowl first I think ......

Well Hami should come back in, at the top or at 4, either way. Chigs has been very sluggish. It is our seamers who are doing very little to knock these blokes over. I don't know who to stick in to do much better though.
Chamu was due a couple of failures, Richmond is mid twenties and improving, so I don't know about dropping him. Raza, Williams and Ervine are the engine house but haven't fired every game. I think Mutombodzi isn't adding much.

The lineup isn't scary, even if you add Chatara and Cremer. With Taylor gone and most of our seamers injured we are left to wait for a couple of youngsters to hopefully develop.
Mumba and Musoko may be myths, we will see how they go domestically, but we need to get some bowlers who have a chance of working someone out.

Hard to argue with anything that you've said Jemisi, except that Willaims is adding about as much value as Mutombodzi. Considering he might leave, I would keep keep Mutombodzi in there instead.

Williams has always been fickleminded and rash. If he doesn't get a good score in the final game today(Zimbabwe desperately need him to deliver) he might not even make the next tour. Ziehl&Whatmore dropped Hami for form remember, so don't you think the local papers will start asking questions?

ShareI think Zimbabwe are desperately missing Chatara more so than even Taylor. He's a genuine wicket taker and as far as I can tell is the only quick bowler we have that asks questions of the opposition batsmen. Pany may be economical at the beginning of the innings, but it's not enough in an ODI if you can't pick up wickets along the way. Jongwe is a working progress and I can see a future for him in the national side, but at the moment he appears to be struggling.

Yeah if you had Jongwe or Panyangara alongside pre-injury Chatara things would look a bit better. I am worried about him coming back slower and with less zip and confidence.

Totally agree, Chatara would have been very difficult to handle for the Afgans, IRE, and would have been the difference vs NZ and IND A. he has also missed out on huuuge earnings thanks to a a game of boozers soccer.

I like williams the batsmen but what you have said here has been his shortcoming. It was confirmed especially at the WC that dismissal against IRE when he rushed off to get off the feild before the decision even came.

Well, interesting question. If we lose a series to Afghanistan it will certainly be a talking point. But that was one of the reasons Mangongo was given the red card, for the whitewash in Bangladesh. Not so much for his other antics. So who goes? Waller? Doubt it.

Our players I think are hardened to this sort of thing, and hardened in a bad sort of way as this is not even as bad as before, they have been through much worse. They will just go out the and run through the motions like they have always done when they are back room issues of gangantum proportoions and act as if everything was okay. I laughed at Raza's comments just before the world cup when he said everything is fine and the team is one whilst there was a fight at the airport about who gets what of the WC takings. (To be fair he is always expected to say some politically correct crinkum crankum anyway).

Thta's a reality & possibly overweight too though pics of him early last month showed he hadnty bulked so good for him. Just like Panyangara when he came back he had lost yards of pace.

If Zimbabwe loses Ziehl, Whatmore & Waller must all go. Mangongo was sacked on the eve of the world cup. Sacking those three on the eve of a Bangladesh tour cannot be so bad.
But I think Whatmore's last intelligent act will be to resign. Even if Zim wins this 5th ODI, he's already matched Mangogo's 2-2, plus he knows he will get whitewashed in Bangladesh both in the 2015 Nov LOIs and the Tests in Jan 2016, then there will be no hiding from the Mangongo comparisons. The "clown" will effectively have a better record.
In future if anyone were to try and criticise say Hondo or Maregwede being named head coach, some of us will simply say "DAVE WHATMORE". If there's one thing I can thank Whatmore for, it's that. Plus he's from overseas, proven and Australian. 😂

Fantastic start by the Afghans...they will need 250+ to put Zim under real pressure. Shahzad needs to keep his cool amd just go after the bad balls.
