Ahem! I was one of the few people on this forum who backed Nicholson 100%! To see him retire was gutting! :|

I reckon Nicholson could have been better, honest. He matched him for pace, easily, and swung the ball away like Kyle, so i dont see why he'd be inferior. However, Jarvis has had exposure in FC, list A and T20 Cricket all over the world and on a consistent basis.

Was a shame that Ian retired, lost a genuine fast bowler

Precisely!

To this day I've never understood why the love you should've given to Nicolson, you gave to Jarvis? Stamina, physique, aggression, raw pace!

And here someone is talking down a bowler who should be opening for us in tests alongside Shingi!

This forum is quite a puzzle. took a lady to tell you Jarvis' personality!

Nicolson?? He would have been given more love if he took more wickets.

Sounds fair enough really. He had decent raw materials. To use the baseball phrase, he had "good stuff", but his "location was inconsistent". No balls and inaccurate spells held him back. Maybe he would have overcome these if he had not had such a stop/start professional career, with injuries and periods out of the game.

His 2010 season was superb if i remember correctly, which was why he was called up to the ODI squad against Ireland and then to South Africa. I'm ofourse being terribly bias, but i just wish he'd have stuck around. Retiring at his age :|
