Opening post
Dropping him from ODIs7T20s puts him out of sight, and raises concerns about his longevity and age which will overwhelm the arguments about his last tour to New Zealand.
The questions that I'm asking myself right now are was this a coup by Elton and the Admins? Barring the 50 two games ago, he's been rather poor with the bat.
Or is it just the selectors trying to give the job to Raza who has been off colour since his century, and pretty useless with the ball?
Or perhaps they want to give it to Williams whose poor form lately with the bat&ball is well documented by myself. It's only in this series against Pakistan that he has done well, as have Jongwe&Panyangara both being strangely economical despite opening and ending the innings.
I'm not sure between Elton, Raza & Williams. Surely the amount of protection Williams has received and continues to receive must mean someone is doing their best to ensure that he's in front of everyone's eyes so the decision doesn't come as a shock.
Afterall Regis the wiset choice as a youngster, leading batsman and no.1 keeper for the side has had questions due to his unsuitability to ODIs7T20s. Elton Chigumbura is already LOIs captain. No way they'd selected Raza ahead of Williams, so it's probably all being done for Williams. Only his continued poor spell with the bat will make them give Raza the nod, but against Ireland & Afghanistan, it's impossible for him no to find form. They knew Hami would smash these two teams.
Whatever the case might be, what I am certain of is that Hamilton Masakadza has been dropped for political reasons. His sudden exclusion made absolutely no sense, despite some folk here who had their very perculiar and rather sad explanations.
