ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

"I am not saying our bowlers aren't good but we've lost someone like Kyle Jarvis, who could bowl with a bit of pace and swing the ball, and Graeme Cremer, who's a quality legspinner," he said.

Jarvis retired from international cricket on the eve of the Pakistan series, saying the cash-flow situation had made it impossible for him to continue playing for Zimbabwe, while Cremer made himself unavailable during the Bulawayo leg of the India tour. ESPNcricinfo understands Cremer does not want to be considered for Zimbabwe until he is paid monies owed to him and is assured of financial security going forward.

Well, that's the first bad news for the week...

But if Cremer has no better plans yet, wouldn't he be better served by playing and being in the limelight to catch the eye of the rest of the world?

A bit more clarity.

He can't afford to put food on the table, and keeps getting overlooked for games. I'll say it again, ALL the players should just down tools and refuse to play cricket until the entire ZC is sorted out. There's zero chance of this but were it to happen, the next fight would be who they replace them with. There's no one that everyone would agree on. We are dead and buried. Finito. Kaput

These $1.5m handouts the ICC gives to ZC... why couldn't the ICC be responsible for that money, and pay the players? Take it out of ZC's hands.

$1.5m would be plenty for a squad of 20 players to be on central contracts.
That's what should happen. The snake oil salesmen that make up ZC must have suckered them into believing they are above board. Is there anyway the players themselves can approach the ICC with concerns about how the game is run in Zimbabwe and bypass their own corrupt board?

That is something that will have to happen if they do it again.

From today's Daily News

quote] Meanwhile, Cremer confirmed on Monday that he will only avail himself when ZC pays his dues.

“I have decided to take a back suit because of the monetary issues and stuff and haven’t heard anything from ZC, only getting updates from the other guys,” he said.

“I’m just want to get paid all the outstanding balances because there’s been lots of promises but without anything coming through and my return obviously depends on these issues being settled together with the new contracts.”[/quote]

Gut feeling is that he may be waiting a long time, will be interesting to see if he turns out for the Rhinos and if Williams turns out for the Tuskers

I imagine they will eventually pay the black players a few hundred bucks and ignore what is owed to guys like Cremer. Plenty of debts to players from years back still exist but are ignored.
