Transparency at ZCU paramount

ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

It would be useful to know how many staff the ZCU employ, from top to bottom, and their respective posts and aproximate salaries. Where does the money come from to pay them? I'm particulary curious how many administrators there are and how many cricketers there are. It would be interesting to compare this ratio to other countrys' cricket unions.

It would be disappointing if any administrators were paid more than our National Players.

Who sets the salaries?

Who appoints the hierarchy? How long are their terms of office? What is the ZC's current financial status?

Is this information for public consumption? If not, why not?

Is there a Players' Union?

I'm not sure there is a single professional cricketer that is happy with their lot in life. This is a clear indication that things are not working.

It would be lovely to have open audited books and a decent annual report.

You're right in saying it would be lovely Jemisi.

As for paramount - definitely not. They are not obligated.

If you go to ZC offices and ask for their financials and you're denied we can talk.

India is the boss of cricket in the world right now. As far as I know, they don't have a Players' Association/Union, and there are no issues.

My understanding of all Zimbabwean sports is that none of them have ever had associations.

Zimbabwe Cricketers had a players association which was headed by Andy Whittal

Didn't Clive Field represent the players at one point too?

I think India has some administration issues that could be improved as well.

But they aren't alone. Lots of dodgy business gets done.

That said, it would be nice for someone to actually have the financial integrity that would allow them to have transparent books.

After public Tibbas spat with AC, AC said they would set up a players association, I think its necessary to have one ESPECIALLY cos of ZC and their victimisation. And the interface between ZC and the players from the association would be a person who is not from ZC. The players had a Rep of sorts who was planted by ZC and who seemed to be there to pacify the players to tow the ZC line!! That rep was one of the players. I know of two different ones who were there the one being the ZC parrot and the other more of a rep for the players.

Yeah, the union isn't much good if the rep is from management.
