Thomas clocked in at 94mph in that T20 the other night, and bowled Dhawan for the third time. When was the last time the West Indies had a 6ft6 90mph fast bowler?? Get him in the side with Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roche, Alzarri Josef and Miguel Cummins, with Holder as back up, and that's a potent battery of fast bowlers.

Holy s**t...he bowled gas against India in that first ODI. He's a big big boy as well. He clocked up to 152Kph (94mph) yesterday. Keep an eye on this lad; he's young, raw and quick, and coupled with Alzari Joseph could be a real new ball threat for the West Indies going forward.

Shame though he’ll end up going down the t20 route like all his countrymen, I was just thinking today how much talent they have at the moment only if they could somehow get them on the park together.

I don't think that'll be the case just yet. Yea there's a new breed of young lads coming through at the moment which is really really exciting to see. Kieran Powell up top has a air of class about him, Evin Lewis and Hetymyr have some real flamboyancy with their shots and are clearly well suited to the ODI format, then there's Holder, Josef, Dowrich is turning into a quality keeper batsman, Shai Hope is there. The talent is undeniably there and I don't think going back to Dwayne Bravo is going to be productive. Good to see Darren Bravo back in the T20 squad. His name should be the first on any West Indian line up

Hetmyer looks like the real deal. The rest of the WI seem unsuited for the ODI format. If they don’t improve markedly in the next few months, they will be competing with Sri Lanka for the bottom place in next year’s World Cup as I think the Afghans have now surpassed them.

Hetmyer, Joseph, Holder and Samuels, for me, are the only ones suited to ODI cricket who are part of this current squad.

I don't rate Nurse, at all, Bishoo is so hit and miss, Powell looks thick and plays that stupid slog way too often, Roach has lost a scary amount of pace which is why he's so good in test cricket now, and Shai Hope isn't explosive enough to bat in the top order.

Evin Lewis would have been brilliant up top, and the addition of Pollard and maybe Brathwaite would have privided a serious impotus in the middle order and with the ball. The obvious ommission is Chris Gayle up top, who will no doubt be part of the world cup squad.

Yeah that’s why I was saying they could still use some of these guys who aren’t available, you mentioned Nurse & Bishoo aren’t good enough, replace them with Narine & Badree for the limited overs stuff.

For the batting Gayle and Lewis seem to still pick and choose a little what games they want to play but if available I feel they could play all formats, much like Darren Bravo who is one of my favourite players to watch.

Russell, Pollard, Simmons & DJ Bravo could all still add to the side in ODI’s and t20’s as well.

Although most of these guys are t20 or 50 over specialists I think if they prepared the right pitches at home and played an attacking brand of test cricket they could be a formidable side in the longest format.

I've never rated Simmons, there's better players around than him now, especially since the emergence of Shai Hope and Hetmeyer

Hope isn’t really delivering now though, he got those two tons against England but hasn’t repeated it since. Hetmeyer is good but I think he’ll go down the t20 circuit too

I agree completely, Hope needs to get back to his high scoring ways.

I think Gayle is done for the most part. He will still do OK on flat tracks (so he'll go OK in the WC) where he can just stand and deliver. But I don't think will be hitting and double centuries anymore.

Joseph is good and they do have some firepower in the pace department. But building a decently competitive team requires a lot more than just 3 or 4 world class players.
