honest answer is wait till the domestic season, should throw up a few surprises and be a good determinant of who should be there.

Again, I cant resist lets be factual in our assesment, not liking a player shouldn't blind us (if anything it really makes you look a bit dodgy). The facts:
Based on the past Pro40 competition, Ervine made 118 from 6 innings at 29.5 a high of 42*, NO 50s, Mutizwa made 221 from 6 innings at 36.83 a high of 62, 2 50s, marginal but I'd say Mutizwa based on ave is marginally better.
ODI career wise Ervine has an ave of 32.27 a high of 85, 4 50s, from 23 matches. Mutizwa is 32.8 a high of 79 and 3 50s, from 14 matches, again very marginal but I'd say Mutizwa based on ave is marginally better.
For the Bangla series: Mutizwa has had 4 cracks compared to Ervine's 3, Mutizwa made 27, 3, 9, and 27* giving an average of 21.6, Ervine made 18, 8*,0 average 13. Marginal but Mutizwa comes out tops.
ervine has he has made a 50 against new zealand sri lanka mutizwa made 2 out of his 3 50s against a depleted kenyan side .ervine has more ability and also being a left hander gets the nod . mutizwa might have made more runs and a better avg by only 8 more than ervine this series but i have much more faith when watching ervine than mutizwa flower ur point is decent but mutizwa hasnt done anyhting against a quality nation unlike ervine.
Now for you to categorically say " ervine has proven himself in the past and is way ahead of mutizwa" is really streatching the truth (and I am being kind). I for one value Ervine more (he's a leftty, and does look imposing when on form), but I would never (with clean conscience) say " ervine has proven himself in the past and is way ahead of mutizwa", on the contrary he is marginally behind Mutizwa!
Guys lets be factual in our debates!

My contenders for 5,6 and 7 are: Ewing, Lamb, Chigumbura, Waller, Ervine, Mutizwa and Coventry in no particular order in one dayers. If Ewing is available I'd give him a go in the warm up against Pak and see what he has to offer...and it just struck me that hhm is no longer around. Where is he?

gargamel wrote:Oh no you did not say have Coventry bat at 7.
The problem with our cricket in the past was having top order guys once they dipped in form shunted down the order. Their whole lives they batted between 1 and 4 then you shunt them down to 5 6 7 . Classic examples are :
1.Trevor Gripper from 1 to 5 or 6
2.Gavin Rennie from 1 to 6 or 7
3.Dirk Viljoen from 1 to 6 or 7
I say leave them where they have learned to play and don't jig and play around with the order of things.
And once again i believe there are more options other than the frail and feeble Sean Williams at 5 or 6 , why not try Regi or Chamu or dare i say it in one dayers have Tino there
