Well I'd like to see him back in the side, most importantly the test line up. But i don't think the guy's going to be mr popular in the changing rooms amongst the other guys.

I think it makes the Eagles formidable and to think he can also partner Razor i see bags of wickets plus some runs i hope he stands by his teamates and pulls in a shift for the entire season.

Lets focus on his abilities with the bat rather than his personal life

I agree, I just hope that he scores he scores a lot and scores regularly.

As Situ says, let's concentrate on his cricket and not his personal life.

ZIMBABWE Cricket's problem child, Sean Williams, continues to keep fans and administrators guessing about his future in the sport after pulling out of a proposed deal to sign for Mashonaland Eagles and not committing himself to any of the five franchises with the new season set to commence next week.

Williams expressed interest in joining Eagles and a deal was thrashed out but before he signed the player made a u-turn. He then told Eagles he was no longer interested in playing the game, leaving the Harare-based franchise frustrated.

The all-rounder has raised fears that he might have decided against playing domestic cricket, again, having shunned a contract to play for the national team in their last two tours against Bangladesh and Pakistan in the last two months, preferring to go and play hockey in South Africa.

According to well-placed sources at Eagles, the former Under 19 captain said that he was no longer interested in playing cricket; flip flopping on his earlier decision to return.

"He did not only say he was no longer interested in playing for Eagles, he actually said that he doesn't want to play cricket anymore," said the source. "Everyone was shocked and disappointed at the same time, because he would have been a valuable addition both to Eagles and the national team. How and when he arrived at that decision we do not know because he had even said that he was Eagles bound on Facebook; maybe he got better offers in South Africa where he was playing hockey recently."

A talented left hand batsman who was expected to play a major part in Zimbabwe's fortunes, Williams' career has been characterised by an on and off relationship with Zimbabwe Cricket.

The Bulawayo-born 24-year old suffered a World Cup heartbreak after he fractured his thumb and had to return home early. After making his ODI debut against South Africa in 2005, Williams played 41 matches scoring 10 half centuries and featured once in T-20s for Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile Southern Rocks is on the verge of signing national team hopeful Ryan Butterworth ahead of the new domestic season which starts next week. Butterworth, who was at Eagles last term, has set his sights on switching bases with all-rounder Elton Chigumbura and Raza Butt who have moved in the opposite direction.

Also on the brink of signing for the same franchise is former national team opening batsman Dion Ebrahim. Rocks have since signed Prince Masvaure and fast bowler Tinashe Panyangara after retaining the services of wicketkeeper batsman Tatenda Taibu, Chamu Chibhabha and fast bowler Brian Vitori.

Rocks' CEO Givemore Makoni confirmed holding talks with Butterworth and Ebrahim and expressed optimism the two would pen a deal. "We have had progressive talks with both players and we are optimistic that they will sign; they have both showed interest and I think a deal for both is imminent," said Makoni.

"We have also brought in Prince Masvaure and we are still on the market both locally and abroad to further fortify our squad. "We lost a number of top players but we have acquired good replacements and we will be a strong team again this season."

Tuskers, who lost Williams from last term's squad, got a worthy replacement in Craig Ervine who has committed to the Matabeleland franchise while the rest of their players recommitted for this season.

Who is he even going to play hockey for? Does Zimbabwe still play hockey? I guess he could qualify for South Africa.

The silence of ZIM FANATIC , BRT,and CONANT are indicative of how stabbed in the back they feel by SW . I recommend and propose that any further discussions or topics relating to Sean Williams be from here and now on be banned and that all images and records be purged from this forum. I can never stand by a backstabbing cheat who was clearly exposed for the runt that he truly is and for the administrators of this forum to clearly show their bias in supporting the rouge Casanova S Williams by shutting down the damming thread and allegations and their blatant support for his return to the national speaks volumes of the characters of the men that they all are.

Agreed.

I am sick and tired of Sean Williams and all this "will he, won't he" bullshit. He needs to pee or get off the pot. Either he is going to play or not and he needs to just get on with it. ZCF should tell him to do one and let him get on with his life, the Sean Williams saga is almost as boring as the Sean Ervine saga. Must be something about the name Sean.

Yes let's fight supression of discussion by shutting down some more threads and purging records. If you guys don't want to read about Sean Williams just don't open the threads with his name in the title - this trick also works with avoiding Sean Ervine discussions. I am as tired of the Sean Williams saga as everyone else is, but we can still discuss him.

Uh, no.

And whatever your issues with Williams, if they involve off-the-field behaviour, this isn't the place to air them. We're a cricket forum, not the News of the World.

(For what it's worth, I've already said - I think earlier in this thread - that ZC should tell Williams where to go. But that purely because of his d**king around will he / won't he issues, and nothing else.)

WTF are you burbling on about. I have no personal animosity towards Sean Williams I am just tired of having the same old "will he won't he" nonsense from him. Either he wants to play or he does not.

How ironic, you should use, or should I say ATTEMPT to use the word babble, as you yourself babble (in the classic sense of the word).

Firstly the term is NOT "burbling" but babble [...(also called baby talk or twaddling) is a stage in child development and a state in language acquisition, during which an infant appears to be experimenting with uttering sounds of language, but not yet producing any recognizable words...sound familiar?]

Secondly if you are acquainted with netiquette (short for "network etiquette" or "Internet etiquette"), a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks, ranging from Usenet and mailing lists to blogs and forums, you will know that until you are sure with whom you are conversing with you will refrain from insulting tones, such as WTF, which in certain less uncouth circles could be considered strong language.

Now to address your concerns, you take offense at my saying the issue you have with Sean is "personal". I arrive at this as you endorse what gargamel's comments which contain the line

...supporting the rouge Casanova S Williams

To which you respond

Agreed

Therefore by association and affirmation, you prescribe to his (gargamel's) views. Correct me if my logic is flawed. If however, this was not what you wanted to convey, and you simply wanted to say...

I am just tired of having the same old "will he won't he" nonsense from him. Either he wants to play or he does not.

and not reference to his personal affairs, then that is different, I'm happy to hear your opinion, which may differ with mine, but as was stated and is, you endorse and affirm gargamel's view which are of a personal nature, leading to my conclusion that it is "personal".

I still stand by my point, if you have no interest in either of the Seans, simply stay away from their threads, else by all means contribute let us know why you do not like him, disagreed with all that miss him, etc, in a respectful manner. To call for the ban of these threads, is exactly how most African countries have ended up in a state of non-democracy, and mind you democracy comes with an obligation to uphold the democracy of others as well. And secondly BRMT and maheara are the administrators and hence entitled to run the forum as they wish, the best you can do if unhappy (according to gargamel's views, which by endorsement in turn yours), by all means vote with your feet.

If I have mistaken your "Agreed" to endorse gargamel's views, apologies, but take care to say what exactly you agree to in future, if I have not mistaken this, then my comments unreservedly stand. I hope you are able to comprehend the argument, and please feel free to respond (not insult) if you are in disagreement to my argument.

Ladies i have no personal grudge against Sean it seems as if i am crazy but all i am simply asking for and requesting from all of you is to simply stop treating the Sean as if he is the"messiah" of Zimbabwean Cricket as if he alone will lead us to series and world cup glory. Simply on talent alone none of our ranked players can match him. We have all been on a pitch and its important to have an oak who will scrap with you to the very last ball that's the character of old good old tough Zimbos and its clearly not in Mr Williams. I hate the fact that my expectations and hopes are raised each time our most talented player decides to return then p**ses in our faces . Back in my day turn coats and cheats would be smacked round the head and kicked in the teeth . We all prescribe to a code in cricket that is based on dedication , pride, honor and discipline something that our Casanova Sean Williams lacks . I would be ashamed to share a field or sing the national anthem with a boy who has clearly no respect for the game, fans and himself and our Zimbabwe .

Flower as to your comments on my views these are mine and will remain so this is Africa your references to old archaic African style of leadership and governance have no place in the forum at all we need a separation of politics and the cricket . Africa is no western democracy and it will never will be and this is because of the anarchy and chaos caused by the oppressors whom from your comments you are an agent imposing their will in our sovereign and democratic country we call Zimbabwe. In Africa for peace and democracy to be earned there must be sweat and blood that must be shed and if you have a problem with it you can track down to the coast raise your fore fathers (Rhodes or van Reebeck)sunken ships and sail back to whence you were meant to have been born.
