Opening post

I'm very excited to see how Cremer will go in Franchise cricket when it comes around. He's conquered all comers in levels lower than that, but it'll be his first real test outside his stint in Test cricket which was quite some time ago now. Spinners typically haven't done very well in SA Franchise cricket, but that could just be because they aren't very good - we've seen the national selectors pick Petersen, Adams and Boje in recent times, along with Botha just a year or two after he converted from medium pace, so it might be the quality of the bowlers rather than the pitches.
poor end to what i thought can be great boost for zim cricket.they shouldhave chased this total but again collapse need to learn from mistakes and improve from there on. some good performances by chakbova he deserved might be call up for the national team.

Looking for a silver lining to the cloud, here, but the points distribution for this match is curious:

Griqualand West 10, Zim Provs 1

Given a good win could get you nearly 20 points, that could have been worse (and Provinces probably deserved more than 1 point, but losing the 1st innings by nearly 100 runs would have hurt them).

Top of the table now look like this:
Code: Select all
Pl W L T D A Pts
Griqualand West 5 3 0 0 2 0 62.68
Zim Provs 6 2 3 0 1 0 57.02

Other matches for the week haven't been added to the table yet, so I haven't included them here - but Easterns (4th) were trailing Northerns (5th) when rain interrupted, so that should be declared a draw, while North West (6th) beat 3rd-placed Gauteng by 8 wickets.

Admire Manyumwa and Ed Rainsford make way for Taurai Muzarabani and Tafadzwa Kamungozi in todays 45 over match.

Zim won the toss and put Griqualand into bat, latest score is 67-1 at the start of the 18th over, Muzarabani 1-7.

Unfortunately I am off to work shortly, so will have to check on how many wickets we win by when I get home tonight 😂

How did Duffin keep his place :o

GriqW 1/67, but very low run rate (3.9ish). I hope we win.

I like your attitude. :)

Provs may not be taking many wickets, but they're restricting the Griqua scoring quite well, so you never know...

I think he's injured.
Legend
I assume that Rainsford is carrying an injury after not having bowled more than 9 overs in the 3 day game, as for Duffin, he has either got to get through this loss of form or be dropped completely. As we cannot get anywhere in this 45 over competition now I suppose that he ought to play at every opportunity.

Another lame performance with the bat today to lose the 45 over game... Continuing the pattern in this competition of bowling OK, and batting poorly. Regis Chakabva once again top scoring.

Well, I have just got home from work and i'm confused.

Can somebody confirm whether the cricinfo score is correct or have I missed out on something and it is actually April Fools Day today ?

Somebody, somewhere, must be having a laugh, surely

If only that were true.

A truly horrible weekend of cricket, if you're a Zim fan.. :(

So much progress seemed to have been made over the last few weeks and then 3 dreadful results in the space of a few days.

Hopefully the seniors will pick up their confidence again in the MTN competition, they will certainly need to if the India tour is going ahead, and the Provinces side can do the same in their last round of games. It would be a great shame for the Provinces team to finish the SAA series on a down after the excellent performances of players such as Chakabva, Cremer and Manyumwa.

What is going on ?, we move from pigeon post to live cricinfo coverage :o

Todays side, Tino Mawoyo, Terry Duffin, Bonaparte Mujuru, Graeme Cremer, Regis Chakbva, Steven Nyamuzinga, Friday Kasteni, Admire Manyumwa, Blessing Mahwire, Trevor Garwe & Ed Rainsford.

Mahwire won the toss and put Griqualand in to bat, the latest score is 63-3 after 21 overs. Bowling to date Rainsford 7-1-15-1, Garwe 7-2-16-0, Mahwire 7-2-26-2.

Perhaps the possibility of Provinces reaching the final has caught their attention - and a win here would make that job much easier. Good start by the bowlers - although I see Cremer's just gone for 8 off his first over...
Griqualand West 133/3 (34.5 ov)..Current partnership 87 runs, 18.1 overs, RR: 4.78

Its not looking to go they shud break this partnership...hey i am Zim Cricket's biggest fan how come i didnt know about these boards...if we beat this team then it proves that we have good back up for our national team.

Welcome! :) We haven't been here too long - glad you found us, though!

Koortzen and Bossenger are digging in quite well, unfortunately, and Cremer looks to be having a rare off-day (5-0-31-0). Need to get a breakthrough as soon after lunch as possible...

...and that's their 100-partnership. Provinces losing their way after a good start, here...
Rainsford to break them open IMO.
