Opening post

I'm very excited to see how Cremer will go in Franchise cricket when it comes around. He's conquered all comers in levels lower than that, but it'll be his first real test outside his stint in Test cricket which was quite some time ago now. Spinners typically haven't done very well in SA Franchise cricket, but that could just be because they aren't very good - we've seen the national selectors pick Petersen, Adams and Boje in recent times, along with Botha just a year or two after he converted from medium pace, so it might be the quality of the bowlers rather than the pitches.

In another south africa three day match being played today a bloke called jaco boyesen who plays for easterns smashed 207 runs ( In a day!!)

Hopefully kasteni and chakabva can do something similar and then its game set and match

Im being wildly optimistic but hey!!!
50!!! for Kasteni...good fight bek lets hope they build a BIg partnership, i like this guy Chakabva i believe he might just get a jersy in our national side if he keeps scoring like he has been doing. Thanx yall for making the brotha {thanx Cribbage}feel welcome, lyk i sed i'm zim cricket's biggest fan..i will keep supporting zim even if we loose the 5th ODI by an innings and 100 runs {lol}

If there is one team that could lose an ODI by an innings and 100 runs, it would be Zimbabwe 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Hey, it could happen - there was some talk towards the end of last year about making ODIs 2 innings of 25 overs per side, instead of 1 of 50 (for that Twenty20 boom-boom feel)... Do that, and it's only a matter of time...

Looking grim at 169/6 - Chakabva and Kasteni did reasonably well, but the rest of the guys just aren't firing with the bat...

And even grimmer at 172/7.

lets hope zim provience get around the 220 mark. that wont be a bad total

That's lunch on day two.

Zimbabwe Provinces 184/7 (Manyumwa 4*, Mawhire 11*) trail by 109 with 3 wickets remaining.

not the best starts from after lunch :(

190 is a low target, but none-the-less nothing would settle my nerves more than a solid opening stand by both Duffin and Mawoyo tonight.

T Duffin c Bossenger b C Pietersen 0

Duffin has been simply woeful of late. That doesn't help.

41/1 at close, though, with Mawoyo and Mujuru holding up well.

Just home from work to find another good days work by the bowlers.

The low 1st innings score was a bit of a blow but more than made up for by skittling Griqualand for 90.

Let's hope that the low scores in innings 2 and 3 are not because the wicket is falling apart and that the batsmen can get their heads down and notch up another win to get clear at the top of the pool.

I think that 190 might prove to be a pretty tough target. The pattern of this tournament seems to be that the games are generally low scoring. Also, Zimbabwe's bowlers have generally done a very good job, whereas the batsmen, with the exception of Chakabva, have not shown anyu consistency. I think he is the only one averaging over 30...

Provs do have a couple of 300+ scores under their belts, though, so I wouldn't write them off yet. They're perfectly capable of getting this target, they just need to be careful. It's not like they're pushed for time...

What is going on with Duffin's form these days? He used to be one of the most consistent batsmen in the country a couple of seasons ago. I guess being constantly dropped without reason has damaged his confidence.

If his current form keeps up, he'll be dropped with very good reason. 4 ducks in this competition, from (I think) 12 innings played - that's not a good ratio...

He'll have to knuckle down and score stacks in the domestic competitions this year... On that subject, does anyone know when any of the competions are supposed to be taking place?? Havn't seen anything anywhere about it. Hopefully this isn't a sign that ZC are going to keep the media as badly informed as they were last year...

I'm all for the cautious approach, but at the rate these two are scoring a full day may not be enough...

Last bat TMK Mawoyo b Adams 33 (0m 131b 3x4 0x6) SR: 25.19

Fow: 66/2 (43.4 ov); Partnership: 64 runs, 39.0 overs, RR: 1.64

66/2, Kasteni's next in. Here's hoping he ups the pace just a little...
