Zimbabwe Depth Bowling.

Opening post

Zimbabwe's depth bowling has been very ordinary off late. Is there anyway to correct this. If we can shade 20, 30 runs from the totals we conside then surely our batsman can have much better totals to chase down. We do have a bowling coach Hondo but if we keep getting it wrong all the time how is he still in a job. Coaching is a result oriented job. If the results don't show perhaps its time we look elsewhere.

To be honest mate, Dougie Hondo isn't the man out there bowling that s**t we've seen since the World Cup. He'll be doing his best off the pitch, it's to the guys on it to actually go out there and implement his advice and knowledge. I mean look at Mpofu: been around for ever it seems, and he still cant get it right at the end of the innings. Get rid of him for god sake, get somebody else in like Madziva, Jongwe or Mumba/Musuko. That list actually has a bit about it because they ALL have some pace. Bowling Mpofu and Panyangara at the end of an innings is like money for old rope, you won't gain anything from it because they simply aren't good enough to bowl at that stage. Panyngara is superb with the new ball, which is why he's so good in test cricket, but ODI cricket is just suited for him.

Hondo can only use the tools he has at his disposal, and when they are blunt, old and passed it, it's hard to see any results until some new ones are added

Wasn't Shingi Masakadza useful with death bowling? To be honest, how many effective death bowlers are out there? Most teams seem to pile on 100 runs in the last 10 overs these days.

Bobby actually has bowled pretty well at the death lately, but he was terrible on Sunday .....

Tinashe is the worse he really has no idea, which is a shame for him because he bowls so well at the start of the innings but has his figures ruined at the end .....

Madziva showed some ability to take wickets at the end which is the key to keeping the runs down, that's our main problem we can't wickets at the death if we did take 3-4 wickets in the last 10 I reckon we would shave 20-30 runs off as well .....

Im confused,

Are we talking about Death bowling or depth bowling?

Those are two very different things.

I assume Tawac meant death.

What does it matter? We have neither.
