What are you basing this off? A quick search reveals only 1 of his highest 20 scores were against Bangladesh

Only 4 of his 112 Innings were against Bangladesh; even if you take them out his average drops by less than a run from 51.54 to 50.62 which is still amongst the best of the players you mentioned when you look at their stats without Bangladesh to pad their figures:

Player, Ave. not including BD (Ave. vs all teams)

Ponting 51.64 (51.85) 5 innings

Flower 50.62 (51.54) 4 innings

AB De Villiers 50.46 (51.31) 5 innings

Gayle 41.39 (42.18)

Sharma 34.23 (33.18) 1 innings

And when you take into account someone like Ponting never had to play Australia while Flower never got a chance to play Zimbabwe (against whom Ponting averages close to 100) it makes his stats even more impressive.

Stats,stats,stats and stats.

This is the thing.

Cricket is a game with a bat and a ball, it isn't mathematics in some classroom.

I'm sick of people using these statistics to justify why they think this guy is a God.

Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams (both better than Andy) had batting averages of 70+ last years World Cup, and as talented as they are, no ones saying they are world class players!

The truth is, and I admit, that andy would make our 'best of' team in the last twenty years as a batsman. However, he only JUST scrapes in.

Carlisle, BT, ervine, taibu, Rinke and Williams are better. He would just be above grant which makes up the 7 batsman and all rounder in my team.

It's a tragedy that stats have skewed common sense and the perspective of people here. If he was black people would just think he had a good run of form.

Everyone except Jemisi (who is a champion and really smart) needs to go back to school, because apart from Jemisi, you all have rocks in your head. Especially Aydee, who has no brains at all.

I can't imagine why so many here are upset at Watermelon's arrival. This evidence alone should demonstrate his capacity for fruitful insight. :P

King Flower is my God of cricket and surely Zimbabwean cricket. Your idiotic post is like stating that Sachin Tendulkar is over rated. Period!
Zim fanatic since 1987

Tendulkar hung around too long. Laxman and Dravid were better.

Dravid may have been in Sachin's class but Laxman certainly wasn't.
