Opening post

From a CricInfo commenter:

No offense to Zim, but Zimbabwe is not an opposition, against whom, you can compare someone being better? Everybody can score against them.

Cheeky so-and-so..

Pakistan win by 7 wickets, win series 5-0.

Well, that was disappointing...

It shows we have a long way to go. :(

One thing that wasn't disappointing about this series was Ray Price, he is our only first class bowler.

Yuck, what an awful way to finish off the series.

I thought the team had shown a lot of progress during this series but a dreadful performance like this will just give people another chance to say that Zim are not good enough to compete at the top level.

A good effort from Ray Price but the bowlers simply have not been good enough during the 5 games, Robin Brown will have to put the lack of bowling firepower at the top of his list of 'things to do'.

Nice accurate spell of bowling from Dabengwa again

People will say that about Zim & Bangladesh regardless of their results - it's just a built-in reaction from a certain set of 'purist' fans.

The annoying thing about this series is that Zim performed better in the early matches, against a stronger Pakistan side, and just seemed to lose interest as the series went on (and I don't think that's down to Utseya's absence). There were probably three matches they could have won, given a little application and an additional specialist bowler. Zim didn't lose because Pakistan were so much stronger, as I don't think they are - they lost because their own tactics weren't up to the job. Injuries didn't help, either.

Lots of things for Robin Brown to work on before India in May - they are a strong side, and Zim will need to be properly prepared for them.

First performance this series where Zim were genuinely thrashed... In genuine, I thought that the series was quite encouraging, but obviously today was lame... Lokks like the Provinces side has fallen to pieces as well...

Blessing mahwire and rainsford should be the recalled bowlers to play in our next series

Yes I agree we need strike bowlers in the side if we are going to bowl good sides out, Rainsford and Mahwire are better and quicker bowlers than Mupariwa and Mpofu in my opinion so ya get them in!
well sad end the series for zim, i think they should have played 4 speacialist bowlers along with chigumbura in the side.complete lack of slection issue, robin need to think his way of playing, put some more bowlers so you can get a chance to hold good teams, lets get back rainsford or any other promising young bowler to give tough time to good teams.

Injury worries galore for Zim:

Prosper Utseya remains sidelined by an ankle injury. He has been undergoing rehabilitation with the team physiotherapist, Amato Machikicho, and is expected to start on moderate fielding drills over the next two days and so is out of the 5th ODI. His condition will be reviewed back home prior to the Zimbabwe Select’s first match of the MTN Series in Harare.

Tawanda Mupariwa, also with a left ankle sprain, remains unavailable for selection. He suffered the injury when he fell after stepping on a boundary rope on Tuesday, during practice for the 4th ODI. He began gentle walking exercises yesterday and will only resume dynamic drills next week.

Keith Dabengwa woke up with a sore throat on Thursday and was rested from practice while he commences medication. If he is found to have improved overnight, he will then practise with the team on Friday morning and be in contention for the last game. (No rush, Keith...!)

Timycen Maruma developed an acute toothache overnight. The dentist consulted in Lahore on Thursday advised that the player has mild gum infection around a wisdom tooth. If he responds favourably to the prescription, Maruma will train with the squad this morning and be available for selection.

Pakistan Squad

Shoaib Malik (capt), Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Naumanullah, Fawad Alam, Rizwan Ahmed, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Sohail Tanvir, Junaid Zia, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz, Abdur Rauf

How does a sore throat prevent you from playing cricket?

Sill I won't mind if Keith feels he isn't up to playing due to his sore throat.
My All-time Zimbabwe XI
Neil Johnson, Brendan Taylor, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), David Houghton, Sean Williams, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Paul Strang, Eddo Brandes, Blessing Muzarabani
I hope Maruma plays, Ive never seen him bowl he should be given a chance because he also adds depth to the batting lineup

Maybe he is picked for his sledging ability?

I am sure we must have better sledgers than Dabengwa. I imagine Mark Vermeulen would make a good sledger. He could throw a few boundary pegs at the batsmen or something. As opposed to the England team throwing jellybeans.

Latest on the Zim 'injuries' - Dabengwa and Maruma are fit to play, Masakadza will continue as captain.

Zimbabwe batsman don't even look like they are trying to win. Disappointing end to the series. Let's get behind Zimbabwe Provinces, because this match is gone 😂

There was a hold up for about 5 or 10 minutes - Taylor even went off the ground and came on again. Nobody in the commentary team knew what was going on, just a disturbance in the crowds.

The cameras scanned around, and for a split second it looked like somebody was holding up a poster with the word "monkey" written on it. Now, I don't know for sure because it was so brief - the camera went off it immediately, maybe someone else can confirm, but if the Pakistani's and Indian's are now going to call anyone of African descent a monkey, maybe the ICC will finally do something about racism (maybe they can start with banning Harbhajan for 3 Test's as he was originally supposed to).

I get the feeling that if there is any thought of racism being directed towards an African country like South Africa or Zimbabwe, the ICC will pay attention more than if it was say Australia. Not to mention the respective boards will kick up more of a fuss.
