Indeed. Can anyone remember the last time Zimbabwe batted through a day, or posted 400+? I think it's been a while...

It is pleasing to see a century from Sean Williams. Hopefully this will send a message to the selectors that he needs to be included in the team. Not that form is the main criteria for making the Zim team these days!
My All-time Zimbabwe XI
Neil Johnson, Brendan Taylor, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), David Houghton, Sean Williams, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Paul Strang, Eddo Brandes, Blessing Muzarabani

Right you are, of course. I blame brain-freeze.

South African Composite XI - 3/34. Mpofu has 2, Chibhabha has 1.

To win, SAC XI need 3.4 an over. Zimbabwe need 7 wickets. I'd say we will see a result today, but another few wickets would make things quite comfortable.

who no wat could happen. take the aussies as examples today

5 for 69 zim on top

:)

2 for Mpofu, 1 each for Chibhabha, Utseya and Chigumbura - can't see Composite batting out the day now... :)

Only downside of winning is that it kinda reinforces the selection problems...
Veteran
yeah. i reckon brent chigumbura and mpofu should be in. just u need the one more bowler. and williams has to b in the side now. poor dabengwa is always goin under fire even after 77

South African Composite XI require another 139 runs with 3 wickets remaining

Rain isn't the worst thing possible. It would be nice to lose a few overs to put the game beyond all doubt. I'd really like to get these wickets quickly - the batsmen were both settled, a short break could break their rhythm.

It will be interesting to see what happens when play resumes.

...and Zim wrap it up, winning by 134 runs. I'm not going to complain too much about a 3-0 series sweep - even if they did make it more difficult for themselves than it needed to be...

Zimbabwe have already won the series 2-0, really they should just be looking to thump SAC XI and go into the Pakistan tour with confidence. Please post all discussion about the match in this thread.

Zimbabwe squad:

P Utseya, H Masakadza, V Sibanda, CJ Chibhabha, T Taibu, SC Williams, KM Dabengwa, E Chigumbura, T Maruma, RW Price, CB Mpofu, GB Brent (12th man)

Williams comes in for Brendan Taylor

Brent comes in for Matsikenyeri

Maruma also makes the team.

Dabengwa continues to get selected, this time ahead of Taylor. What an absolute joke

We can only assume Taylor has been dropped, there has been no news of injury or another reason.

So, we have Williams, Dabengwa, Utseya, Price and Maruma - all spin bowlers. Mpofu and Chigumbura are the only pace bowlers. NO Gary Brent, again. Looks like the quotas are well and truly being enforced now, 2:9.

I was hoping for some sanity getting restored in 2008, as far as team selection is concerned. But...

Really? How strange is that! Just minutes ago I posted that Utseya should bat higher up the order.

I have confidence in him.

😂 It's happened before, it will happen again.

C'mon Sean Williams, smash 100... First Class average is 46, his first target should be to beat that. Second should be to push it beyond 50, and by that time he should be nearing his century. C'mon mate.
Veteran
live score very slow. williams is easily better then some of the people that get picked before him in the side
