He made Greg Strydom look svelte.

Rinke was a power hitter at the top of the order and was one of our best players when we 'upset' Kenya in an ODI series in Zimbabwe - we have come along way since then. Unfortunately our competition hasn't stood still either.

Rinke was a batsman who was terrific when it came to playing the also rans of the world like Kenya but put him in front of bowling anywhere near decent and he was caught out.

Yup. Rinke against Associates was a joy. I remember him getting a few very high scores in the Canada / Bermuda tri-series back in the dark days.

And then they played him against West Indies later in the same tour. Oh dear.

Piet Rinke! I loved the way he would charge the batsmen in the very first over, he loved to dominate and if he had got it right he would have been a dangerous batsmen.

Rinke is a player who could really garner a cult following among fans. Piet 'The Raging Rhino' Rinke perhaps?

Deffo a cult figure. If he got his eye in and got hold of the bowling he would be awesome to wtch. Never dull.
