Opening post

The first class season has started here in England, and Eddie Byrom has already made his mark by scoring unbeaten 50 and and unbeaten 100 for Somerset vs Cardiff MCCU. Bowling for Cardiff was Brad Evans, also a Zimbabwean. The whole game was streamed live on youtube and is still able to view, if you have spare 8 hours or so.

Nick Welch was batting for Loughborough MCCU vs Liecestershire, and scored 18 and 40 odd. No Malcolm Lake playing for Oxford who got a creditable draw with Middlesex. His studies must have finished. I'm going to watch Oxford on Monday so I'll try and find out what he's now up to.

Ncube is hosting a “prudent deployment of resources” seminar in Elephant Hills for 350 members of the House and Senate where rooms are $300 usd a night for 5 nights.

Of course MDC will also be in full attendance, nobody wants to miss out on a freebie.

This is why we’re so f%#*ed here. They’re all thieves.

The big crooks may be thriving or surviving but it is at the expense of those they are competing with. Ordinary people.

This is not a problem if Hitchens was right. Or rather if he was right, why not celebrate the chefs' thriving? What highly evolved beasts they are!

You can have morals and decency but they are more likely to be consistent with Jesus rather than Hitchens' faith.

All of your concerns about the mess of things are only meaningful if there is some standard that the crooks are failing. And that includes the church crooks. It doesn't matter at all if they are thieving or lying or corrupting if we are just cosmic accidents.

But I think it does matter. And the quality of your laments suggests that you think it matters too.

I agree with Jemisi here.

What is morality and what is the moral line if not for the religious text?

Someone born a sociopath (no natural empathy) would have no qualms about bad s**t like thievery once you take away the religious angle, the fear of hell.

If I’m short of cash and I want something I can easily steal from the supermarket, why not?

I can easily rationalise that.

No victims, no one knows, big corporation. Just a little thing taken etc.

That said, it’s clear alot of dodgy Zimbos use God as a manipulation tactic only.

I always get Facebook ads for people claiming to do miracles and blessings for a fee.

Probably no different than those who pretend they can talk to dead loved ones

If people need the threat of fire and brimstone in the afterlife in order not to go on a murdering thieving rampage in this one then I’d suggest they’re slightly lower down the evolutionary tree than they should be 😂, assuming of course that you think humans have been around longer than Adam and Eve. Those are suspiciously white names 😂 I’d have gone with Abdul and Aaleya if I was writing a fairy story that I was hoping a few billion people would swallow. 😂

That’s gotta hurt the black guys who must have pored over the scriptures looking for Sipho and Tatenda to get a mention 😂

Latest genetic evidence suggests we all came from Botswana, where I just know my ancestors had a big hunting concession which I’d like back. Actually word of mouth suggests they passed through Chinhoyi where they were forcibly evicted by some unruly San so I’d like that little section back as well. 😂

I like the bit where Hitch suggests that the big G stood with his arms folded for a few billion years before he saw primates take shape and then only directed some genetic engineering in the last hundred thousand years to shape one tribe into his own image and likeness, the problem is we’ve got to figure out which one. Hopefully he looks like me so I can taunt the other 500 races out there. 😂

If you need religion to keep your carnal instincts in check then all power to you, brother.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Adam is only a white name because we copied it from the first guy who owned it.

You're right mate, I do find that I need Him to keep my instincts in check.

As I said, if we all came down the line from where Hitch says we came from, thieving just doesn't matter. If anything you might as well be cheering for the ZANUs as they compete to demonstrate themselves to be the finest examples of selfish genes the world has yet produced. ZC might have a chance of winning a world title!

Or not. Right and Wrong have no meaning if Hitch is right. His jokes don't count, his efforts to educate us all are futile. But even less than futile.

Just...nothing.

I think you are on much stronger ground thinking that the crooks are crooks. Inside and outside the church, and God ain't happy about it all.

No bud, that’s why we have laws to keep people in check.

You’re claiming we only need religion.

Which religion exactly? I’m a bit suspicious of Islam because there’s whole chapters dedicated to killing Christians and there’s books in the Bible that may in fact be even more bloody and murderous than the Quran.

I’d rather stick with some well thought out laws that don’t advocate the wholesale destruction of other religions, races and tribes. Picking through fairy stories trying to find benevolent verses is ridiculous. You can’t be half pregnant.

Ed Byrom blisters 135 off 76 to win their 50 over final in Perth. They won their T20 final and are off to Adelaide to represent Western Australia in the national final.

This guy has become some player! There are WA players in that side and he makes them look second rate.
ZCF Hall of Famer
He will be in an England shirt within three years.

Don’t forget this is how Pope started, off of a grand winter campaign in Australia. I know there’s the small matter of Eddie doing well in County, but that will come, he’s too good not to shine.

Why would these guys want to waste time representing England when they could represent Zimbabwe?

England starting central red ball contract £600 000 a year, white ball £275 000, plus chance of T20 and 100 contracts plus quadruple the number of international appearances plus a county contract with 20-50 games a season depending on formats selected for. County contracts range from £280000-£100000 a year. Play with and against some of the best players in the world. Secure lucrative endorsements and advertising deals. Ability to retire and live comfortably after a County career and to live well after an international one. Opportunities to play elsewhere in off-season. Make life long friends all over the world.

Vs

Zim central contract of....?

One test every two years against the same opponent.

No games

Almost no chance of being selected for any T20 tournaments

No franchise contracts. Country practically unlivable.

Being treated like a second hand dog unless you’ve been a snitch your whole career.

I dunno, man. I’d be shooting for the moon.

You touched on a point I was going to raise, ie, no games.

I laugh when other, more controversial, forumites(past & present) label Zimbos playing overseas as traitors.

As sure as your butthole faces the ground, the English, Australians & New Zealanders will have packed cricket seasons. And its planned in advance. Your blokes just want to ply their trade in the best available competitions with a degree of security. Call them guns for hire but the Poms have been recruiting from the "empire" since international cricket began. (I laughed when I found out Labuschagne was a Saffer. The Poms must be scratching their heads wondering how he escaped their grasp.) Oh yeah, what's this about a six year plan?
ZCF Hall of Famer
That pink traitor story was dropped long back. Let’s face it, if there was a route out of here for all FC players to play Aussie Club Div 3 cricket during our Southern Hemisphere season at $100 a game and free board and lodging it would look like a lemming migration going over a cliff. It would be a good documentary with an Attenborough voice over. They wouldn’t be back either.

They’d have to turn our FC season into a double wicket competition with Utseya and Masakadza in one team and Makoni and Mukhulani in the other.

I know. I just don’t want to pass up an opportunity to point out how these corrupt inept muppets have systematically plundered and destroyed our cricket.

Just another gentle reminder that aside from the missing millions over the years they’ve just lost us another $4 million and there’s not a whimper from anybody!!!!

I was inboxed last night about the Croco saga.

Apparently they were accessing ZC funds for vehicle imports!! The tiff clearly emanates from either not all the monies being returned or someone didn’t get their commission!!

SRC had this information and chose not to act on it, which proves that they were settling their personal differences, stemming from the Telecel transaction. Clearly an agreement was reached and the whole matter was put quietly to bed. Everyone and everything is corrupt to the core here.
