ZCF Hall of Famer

Opening post

bit of a recovery now can we reach 200

205 i feel that we have a decent chance, a couple of early wickets and then price and utseya can turn the screw

A good innings by Chigumbura. In the end, 9/205 is a respectable score. It was nice to see a bit of a fight back after being 5/94, you half expect in that position to be all out for 100.

There are a few things that need to be addressed;

- Taibu's reverse sweeping. I love watching him do it, if we're going to beat Bangladesh we have to have that belief that we are better than them. But he probably needs to choose more appropriate times to do it. It's obviously a shot he's comfortable with, but a wide ball at torso height isn't the best time to do it.

- Williams poor form. He doesn't look like making a big score, although his technique has been reasonably solid I suppose. Regardless, I think he might make way for Malcolm Waller in the next match. I don't think that is the wisest move; Dabengwa gets chance upon chance in the national team despite having no upside, whereas Williams is just a class player going through a rough patch. Williams should really be batting at 3, but won't be for a while now I imagine.

- Too many batsmen making starts. Someone else needed to score 50+.

Positives are obviously Matsikenyeri and Chigumbura. For the first time in God knows how long, Matsikenyeri actually looked like he deserved his place in the team. He played very well for his 39.

A lot of people think of Chigumbura as a slogger, but he is as good as anyone at playing as required for the situation. He batted defensively for about 80 balls, while still rotating the strike and scoring a few boundaries. Then in the final over and a bit he really turned it on, scoring 15 or so off a couple of balls. There's no reason why Keith Dabengwa should be batting before Chigumbura, that is for sure.

Graeme Cremer was 12th man.

It will require a very good effort to win this match. Rainsford and Chigumbura both need to take early wickets, Mupariwa needs to keep his bowling tight and make sure he keeps the run rate low. Utseya and Price in tandem for a while getting through the overs quickly, maybe a high required run rate will spring up on Bangladesh.

At least with 206 we have something to defend, I will be a bit disappointed if we can't drag this at least into the final 10 overs.

The only thing stopping me from going that far is that the next match is against Sri Lanka. Given that a series against Bangladesh and Kenya follow, the selectors might choose to give Williams one more game, and give the rookie batsmen a shot against the weaker opposition.

Having said that, I think it is still more than likely that Williams will be dropped.

Well there's one. Gutsy move by Utseya to bowl himself straight up.

1/9 :)

So, Utseya gets a lucky breakthrough :)

Rainsford, you beauty... :D

Rainsford strikes! 2/10 :D What a lovely ball!

This is why Rainsford must be in the side. He's quick and he will get those breakthroughs.

hes so much better bowling to the left handers than the right handers

Who will bowl with Price? Twin spin has worked for Zimbabwe for quite a while.

I guess it depends on how long Utseya bowls for now, but maybe Williams off-spin is a chance? Possibly Dabengwa too.

matskienyeri bowled well about sri lanka

And you have "That Man" in the team as well...

That's exactly what I was thinking too mate. If it gets up to 5 an over, then that has pretty much offset the low total we set.

Who will be first change? .... Mupariwa is the best bet I think?
Mupariwa shuld bow with Price, they dont give away much
