pushing for selection

I would like to see your views on who is pushing for selection and who is about to be cut for those people. especially with our test status coming back it would be good to experiment or try some promising youngsters.For example i believe Cremer,price,maruma are capable of being goood test spin bowlers well price certainly is with the likes of utseya and lamb negative restricting bowlers suited to the shorter game.With the bat masakadza,taylor,taibu,ervine, are solid but with the likes of coventry are not suited , he seems to quickly smash a 20 then get out , at test level we want players who can bat for sessions or even days coventry does not have the concentration for that. with bligz and chigumbura already playing test cricket i feel they are certanties. Greg lamb has no place , yes hes handy but the guy cant bat and he can bowl a few overs and he is 29. Craig ervine is one for the future as well as malcolm waller ,nathan waller,chittara,jarvis,sean williams,maruma,muttizwa and masakadza jr all have such talent and promise. also maybe sean ervine, anthony ireland,garry balance and james cameron all hopefully returning they will all be capable of playing international cricket excpet maybe james cameron. I believe stuart matsikenyeri is still capable in our test squad with his experience and age vital for youngters and remeber he never left zim cricket he stayed through it all. As much as he dissapoints me he has so much talent and experience. so what are views on this ?
Other than the squad that played international cricket last year who is going force their way into the team this year.

I think we will see more opportunities for Chitara if he continues his current rate of progress and similarly we will see Jarvis return to the team if he regains his fitness. Gary Ballance is an outstanding talent in an area of weakness (top order) so will get capped. The spin dept is very strong so I don't se too many chances for the excellent young spinners Mushangwe, Mutombodzi & Mugava.

Nathan Waller has great potential but is probably a couple of years off international cricket. Other than that it will only be returning players like Goodwin, Ervine, Cameron, Ireland & De Grandhomme, if they come back.

In a settled squad there shouldn't be too many changes each year.

I doubt de Grandhomme is coming back. I think we will see him in New Zealand colours before long.

The pace attack is beginning to take shape now.

With the surprise emerging of Chitara, Jarvis, Waller and Mazakadza jnr our pace attack looks bright for the future. There's also Andy Blignaut who can still push the ball through when in full flow, not to mention there's also the ever improving Christopher Mpofu in the wings.

On the batting front i think work needs to be done. I mean i think it's fair to say that 2009 and 2010 produced more talented individuals with the bat than we've seen for a long time. We saw the ever improving Brendan Taylor and Hamilton Mazakadza give us a kick start to the innings, something we've not been able to do in recent years. Our middle order seems to be getting more stable with the emergence of Craig Ervine and Chamu Chibhaba, not to mention the fact that we've got young Malcolm Waller waiting in the wings. Sean Williams will always be a talented player, though question marks will hang over his fittness.

If guys like Sean Ervine, Ireland, Goodwin return, it will only improve our test squad. I don't think James Cameron would be a welcomed addition as i see no obvious talent. The future is bright, but for now we need to stay patient.

Currently we've no pace attack to speak of, so why not play these four soon, like against Bangladesh this year :idea: (not SA though, they might get stuffed ;) )

Ofcourse we have a pace attack :shock: A very good one aswell.

Chris Mpofu is now bowling genuinely quick.

Tendai Chitara is going to be sharp.

Kyle Jarvis has the potential to be the quickest in the country.

Ed Rainsford looks to be in good form and rhythm, meaning his pace is up.

Shingrai Mazakadza will also be a very good bowler for the future, a quick on at that.

I've not even mentioned Chigumbura, Blignaut and Panyangara ;)
I have watched Chakabava while batting, he seems to have good technique and temparament.one for sure to be watch out for this year domestic season.he can also be future test batsman for zim.
