I found something interesting about New Zealand
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/60 ... y-revealed
How would the current New Zealand players rate on the selection pie:
The Equation Factors that make up the pie: Significant performance 35% Consistent performance 25% Fielding 10% Fitness 10% Selectors' intuition 5% Contribution to the team 15%
Jesse Ryder Better than most of his team-mates, but doesn't do himself any favours.
Has lacked consistency and big scores with the bat but would score high on selectors' intuition.
A big fat zero on fitness, middle rating on fielding given his safe hands, but down again on team contribution given the markers are leadership, work ethic and mentoring ability.
Score: 40/100
Tim Southee Bit of a lad, but had a wonderful World Cup and generally stays fit.
Mark up on consistency with the ball, fitness and fielding but down on team contribution given his little slip-ups like the airline antics and general team clown.
Score: 65/100
Chris Martin Interesting case. Looks a spent force, but has a habit of proving his critics wrong.
He does pull out the odd big spell with the ball, but has lean patches. Consistent with the bat - but not in a way the selectors want. Low in the field, but high in fitness and contribution to the team given he is one of the most professional players in the squad.
Score: 50/100
Brendon McCullum Never everyone's cup of tea these days but he is a matchwinner with the bat. Inconsistent in one-dayers but quite the opposite in tests. Fit as a fiddle, keeps and fields well and wants to be leader.
The inside word is he has been very supportive of new skipper Ross Taylor.
Score: 70/100
Kane Williamson Keeps impressing good judges with the simplicity and effectiveness of his batsmanship. Turns starts into big scores and is consistent. Looks fit, fields well, works hard and the selectors think the world of him so scores highly in every category.
Score: 80/100
Lets rate our current Zim team.........
