For one, Zimbabwe hardly ever get the leisurely of both departments firing at the same time. Its always one or the other. Unfortunately in this series the batsman just haven't showed up yet. Most don't seem to have an idea how to proceed at the crease at all. Only Williams and Raza have shown any signs of hope. Zimbabwe hardly has any replacements in waiting so perhaps a change in tactics. Maybe a green lively pitch to start off though Irfan's eyes will light up.

ShareIn regards to world cup qualification; we cannot afford the luxury of experimenting with unproven players like others on this forum have suggested. We are currently ranked 11th in ODIs so the onus is on us to start winning and I don't see how turning over what little quality we do have for lesser players is magically going to make things better.
Especially concerning is how much of a buffer between us and 11th we will need before we can start to be comfortable getting close to the 2017 qualification date seeing as one big upset by the associates will give them a massive jump in rankings as they've only played a small number of games which is a decent probability if Ireland/Afghanistan are able to lure a 3rd string top 4 nation across for games.

The cupboard is rather empty so wholesale changes make no sense. Mangongo tried that method and failed miserably.

I agree with Dean DuPlessis that Zimbabwe are doing themselves no favours preparing these slow dry wickets, against Sth Africa and Australia ok it worked but against sub-continent teams it makes no sense. I like the pitches prepared for the NZ series a little bit quicker so easier to score on ......

Maybe we should choose to bat first, I know the old story it's gets better to bat at HSC as the day goes on but these pitches are not your traditional HSC pitches. I'd bat first and put the pressure on Pakistan they're not the type of side who like the pressure ......

I say unfair, because what was the point of playing on through the rain if you're not willing to play through bad light? May as well have just called it in the 42nd over.
But, Zimbabwe escape. I think we deserved to win the game despite basically throwing it away towards the end. So even a D/L victory is a just result; though I reckon we still would have held on with 21 off 12 needed.

The Mutombodzi drop of Malik was the big one, Im pretty sure there was others as well .....

A win is a win. Pakistani umpires cost us the series in Pakistan so I am not feeling this as a hollow win. Zim were much better overall and Pak played like typical traditional Zim (So near yet so far)

Yeah, there's nothing ungenuine about the win itself. Things like D/L, umpiring call, etc go both ways and today we were the beneficiaries of it.
I think there's still a feeling of hollowness in that we as fans were deprived of an exciting finish due to bizarre umpiring though. I think if they are willing to play through rain, then they may as well be willing to play through bad light.
Providing it's not dangerous, I'd prefer to see the players out on the field. I think the Zim boys were time wasting a bit with the sawdust on the crease, and we've got no bowlers fast enough to worry the batsmen on the bad light front. It certainly wasn't as dark as the 2007 World Cup final. So with only 2 overs to go, you may as well just see the game through to its conclusion I reckon.
Who knows what would have happened, maybe the umpires did us a favour. I still think we would have held on though (another wicket would have finished them), but they certainly gave us a good scare.

ShareAs a Zimbabwean supporter I don't think we can afford to be too choosey. You take the win in whichever way you can get it. Disppointing that the bowlers after doing much of the work early on, couldn't finish the job even without Cremer.
Utseya will be licking his lips with the prospect of Cremer missing the next game and possibly the Ireland series afterwards. Would rather just use Nyumbu/Williams and play an extra batsman or quick bowler
