Now there's a meeting that would be fun to sit in on. I wonder what CA will have to offer ZC to make sure their man gets the votes he needs...

...and here's ZC's media release, issued after the meeting:

Former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard meets with Zimbabwe Cricket heads

Harare. Former Australian prime minister John Howard and the chairman of Cricket Australia, Jack Clarke arrived in Harare on Wednesday to meet with the chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), Peter Chingoka and ZC managing director, Ozias Bvute. Also present at the meeting was chairman of ZC's legal and constitutional board committee Wilson Manase.

The meeting was held to discuss a number of issues including the International Cricket Council (ICC), the future of cricket in Zimbabwe and Mr Howards candidature for the post of Vice President  of the ICC.

Both Mr John Howard and Mr Ozias Bvute described the meeting as friendly, constructive and frank.

Following the meeting Mr Bvute commented : "I am confident that each party leaves this meeting with a better understanding of the other."

Asked what his hopes were for the future of cricket in Zimbabwe, Mr Howard had this to say: "My personal wish is to see Zimbabwe fully re-integrated into the world cricket family and see the sport continue to grow in all parts of the world, including Zimbabwe."

Following the meeting, Mr Howard and Mr Clark were taken on a tour of the Harare Sports Club at their request:  "I have heard great things about how fantastic this ground is and I would not have wanted to leave before I got the chance to see it for myself, " said Howard

I detect a certain amount of bootlicking going on there...

Once a politician, always a politician 😂 😂 😂

I suspect he might succeed, the only problem is how ZC will sell this to CSA and Sri Lanka without losing their good graces. I love politics 😂 😂 😂

Many comsider Howard Australias best ever prime minister.

Yes hes a former polly....good!

Imagine the connections and ties he has made over the years and how he can bring it to the game.

Just the fact he has managed to get a hardhead like Bvute to change his mind sao quickly shows what the man can do.

Cricket will win.

For the record,

the nations who are opposing him are only doing it out of spite for previous political decisions. Everyone knows some of the sub continent countries are prone to tantrums when they dont get what they want.

At least that is the reputation.
